Morton Ranch Elementary
January 9, 2024
Dear Maverick Families,
We wanted to remind both NEW and returning families that breakfast and lunch are FREE at our campus. Although students are not required to eat breakfast at school, this is great option for many families! Our doors open at 7:50 a.m. and breakfast doors close at 8:10 a.m. We have lots of staff members helping students throughout the hallway directing them to the cafeteria or to their classrooms.
*Any extra items are considered ala carte and must be paid for.
Please give us a call if you have any questions!

CAR RIDER ARRIVAL IN THE MORNINGS
For families that utilize the gym/cafe car rider line:
We are asking for your help in one small step! Our teachers and staff arrive at campus at 7:45. Parents, please pull all the way over to the right side of the road so that teachers can pass through the middle and get to the staff parking lot.
Please refrain from parking in the staff parking lot and walking your child up to the gym/cafe doors. We have limited amount of parking spaces and many of our staff members are unable to park to get to work. This is also a safety issue because we need all staff ready to greet students at 7:50. Students arriving in a car need to arrive through the car rider line.
Students with morning tutorials may continue to arrive in the front of the building at the appropriate time.
Thank you for your support!

REMINDER THAT MONDAY IS A HOLIDAY!
Martin Luther King Jr. Day (officially Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., and often referred to shorthand as MLK Day) is a federal holiday in the United States marking the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. It is observed on the third Monday of January each year. Born in 1929, King's actual birthday is January 15 (which in 1929 fell on a Tuesday).
HURRY, ACT NOW! Less than 20 days to order!
What are some ways that you can volunteer?
Parents, staff, and community members are invited to participate in the 2024 International Night at MRE. This event will be held inside of the school (gym, hallways, library, etc). Volunteers may arrive at 4:00 (before the event opens to families). The event will end at 7:00 p.m. for our guests. Volunteers may stay a few minutes after to help clean up, stack chairs, and move tables.
What are some ways that you can volunteer?
Host a table- MRE will provide 1-2 tables for your setup. You can represent a country by bringing table decorations, food samples, activities, pictures, etc. You are encouraged to dress up to represent the country. Please e-mail if you are in need of electricity for your setup so that your table can be placed near an outlet. Contact RobertTFrench@KATYISD.ORG for this request as soon as possible.
Crowd Control- Volunteers will help direct families as needed throughout the gym, hallways, restroom, etc.
Photographer- We are looking for volunteers that can go around and take photos of the event. Volunteers may use their professional camera or their cell phone. Photos will need to be uploaded and shared with RobertTFrench@KATYISD.ORG within a week after the event.
Set Up/Break Down Crew- Do you like lifting, moving, fixing things? We would love a few extra helpers! Come before the event to help set up tables and chairs. Stay to help teachers/staff clean up.
High School Volunteers- Do you have students in grades 9-12 in need of volunteer hours? Please sign them up to volunteer their time for the event.
