Smallpox is caused by Variola major and minor, Variola minor causes a less dangerous smallpox while major causes a more dangerous smallpox.
How does Smallpox Spread?
Smallpox is spread from direct contact with infected people and bodily fluids also from contact with contaminated objects.
What are the Symptoms of Smallpox?
- High fever
- Chills
- Malaise (feeling of discomfort, illness, or uneasiness.
- Headaches
- Severe back pain
- Abdominal Pain (Belly Pain)
- Vomiting
How is Smallpox Treated?
There is no cure for smallpox but there is a vaccine that you can get before you are contaminated. If the vaccine is given within 4 days it will significantly lessen the symptoms.In 4-7 days it will lessen the symptoms but not as well as within 4 days.

Be informed watch the news continuously and see if there is a report about smallpox.
If exposed wash skin and hair thoroughly with soap and water. Wash hands regularly and try to avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth.
