Welcome to the Class of 2024-2025 Red Jackets!
Welcome and congratulations to the newest members of our #RJFamily. We look forward to watching you lead, love, and serve our CHS home and those who are a part of it. We’re thankful for every person who applied and appreciate your willingness to share your time and stories with us. We know you will continue to lead and make a difference for our campus and community.
To our graduating Red Jackets, thanks to all of you for your efforts, for your legacy, and for the many memories along the way. We’re cheering for you always. ❤️🎓✨We would like to express our profound gratitude to our Red Jacket Sponsors, Bianca Benitez and Courtney Crosby, for always leading the Red Jackets with love, grace and grit!
The Visual Art Department is proud to announce that the 2024 AP Studio Art Showcase is now on view at the Coppell Arts Center. We hope you will stop by and see the incredible work our students are producing.
Featuring the work of 70 artists, this exhibition will include a wide range of visual media including sculpture, drawing, painting, digital media, and photography.
What is the Studio Advanced Placement Program?
Advanced Placement students create a portfolio of work to demonstrate inquiry through art and development of materials, processes, and ideas over the course of a year. Artists develop a body of work, known as the sustained investigation, that seeks to address an inquiry topic of their choosing. The work presented here is a small selection from their overall sustained investigation in the AP Drawing, AP 2D Design, and AP 3D Design portfolios.
CHS ODAD Learners assist TPWD!
Electrofishing is a common sampling method Texas Parks and Wildlife Department uses to determine the health and catch rate of different bodies of water. During the electrofishing process, a controlled current of electricity is sent into the water, and any fish that enters that current gets temporally stunned and hopefully collected by a net. The fish are transferred to a live well, then measured and weighed and returned unharmed to the body of water. The TPWD Inland Fisheries department we work with overseas DFW lakes such as Lake Lewisville, Lake Grapevine, Eagle Mountain Lake all the way down to small city ponds. TPWD works with local Parks and Recreation departments to determine the health of the ponds. CHS Outdoor Adventures students will be on record as assisting Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in sampling Moore Road Park pond. The data will be given to Coppell Parks and Recreation department to help confirm the health of the pond. This is the second year in a row Coppell ODAD has assisted TPWD. This opportunity is very special for these kids as not many folks can ever say they have done this. For a few of these kids, the first fish they ever caught was by using electricity.
