College Go week will be the week of September 24th- 28th. Students are encouraged to wear college spirit attire on Monday the 24th to kick off the week. T-shirts, sweatshirts, pennants, pins, and hats are examples on how student’s can show off their favorite college. Each morning on the announcements, 5 Indiana colleges (IU, Purdue, Butler, Indiana State, and Ball State) will be featured with their fight song, location, trivia question, and shout outs to SGE staff who attended the featured college. You can ask your child what college was featured and the trivia question for the day! The answer will be revealed the next day.
It is never too early to discuss your child’s future with them!

2018 Jog-A-Thon is Next Week!
Jog-A-Thon is next week - Wednesday, September 26th! Students will walk or jog around a 1/4 loop in front of the school (we block off the streets around The Commons). On Tuesday, the day before Jog-A-Thon, all students will bring home their Jog-A-Thon shirt. Each grade has a specific color. All students and staff should wear their shirt to school on Wednesday for Jog-A-Thon. It will be a rainbow of colors at school that day!
The Jog-A-Thon schedule is divided into 3 sessions. The preschoolers and kindergarteners will walk for 30 minutes while the older kids will walk for an hour. Teachers will adjust lunch times if needed. Including warmup and cooldown, the schedule is as follows:
- 1st and 2nd grades 8:15am - 9:45am
- Preschool and Kindergarten 10am - 11am
- 3rd and 4th grades 12:20pm - 1:50pm
Jog-A-Thon is a success because of our volunteers! We need your help cheering on the kids, helping them stay on the course, marking their shirts for each lap completed, and handing out water. ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST HAVE A FULL BACKGROUND CHECK. To volunteer, please visit https://sge.ivolunteer.com/jat_2018
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to support math and literacy materials, technology, enrichment grants, field trips, and special projects for each grade. To do that, we are challenging each student to raise $50 in donations. 100% of the donations collected by Stonegate students will directly impact our school. Money and pledge forms should be returned by Friday, October 5th. To donate online go to https://www.schoolpay.com/pay/for/-Jogathon-Sponsorship/IdLhZ

We look forward to your support and participation and can't wait to have you join us for the 2018 International Fair. We will be in touch in September to further coordinate. Questions? Want to Attend a Pacers Game?
Mark your calendars for this year’s Stonegate night at a Pacers game on Saturday, October 20! Indiana Pacers vs Brooklyn Nets at 7:00PM. This is a fun activity for the family if you are having a stay-cation during Fall Break and if you can’t go on October 20 the Pacers are offering discounted tickets to three other games. Stonegate PTO receives a portion of all ticket sales! Info packets will be going home in student folders next week.
For those who will attend the October 20 game, we are looking for a few students with parents to go on the court at halftime and be recognized with the other groups having their fundraising night the same evening. Please contact Meredith Deneau, mjdeneau@earthlink.net, if you are interested.
BACKGROUND CHECK INFORMATION
We value partnerships with our families and welcome parents and guardians to serve as volunteers in our schools. Each ZCS building offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities.
Examples include:
- Field Trip Chaperones
- Out of Town/Overnight Chaperones
- Tutors
- Volunteer Coaches
- Classroom Helpers (PTO parties/room parents)
- Library Helpers
- After Prom Workers
- Field Day/Jog-A-Thon Volunteers
- Book Fair Sales/Athletic Ticket Sales
During the school day, all volunteers are expected to sign in at the front office. Prior to the volunteer opportunity, all volunteers must sign a Non-disclosure Acknowledgement Form and have successfully completed a Full Criminal History Background Check. Necessary background check paperwork is available on the ZCS website at the Volunteers/BRAVO link and should be submitted at least 10 days prior to the intended volunteer date. Volunteers must also view the state mandated confidentiality/bullying video, provided on the Volunteer/BRAVO website. The volunteer will pay the fee* for the full background check which will expire after 5 years. The link to apply for the full background check can be accessed on the Volunteers/BRAVO link on the ZCS main webpage. For more information, contact the Volunteer/BRAVO Coordinator.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR VISITORS
During the school day, all visitors must enter via the front door and sign-in at the front office. Visitors need to be prepared to present a government issued photo ID which will be scanned against the National Sex Offender Registry. All visitors will be issued a visitor badge/tag to be worn inside the building at all times.
Examples Include:
- Lunch Guests
- Classroom Guest Speakers
- Classroom Special Events (Grandparent Day/Famous Hoosiers/etc.)
- Parent/Teacher Conferences
We ask that all visitors schedule an appointment to meet with teachers, counselors, administrators and all other staff members so that we may best serve everyone. Visitors other than parents/guardians must be prearranged and organized through the main office.
*ZCS thanks all volunteers for generous support of our youth and schools. Thank you, too, for supporting assurance of student and staff safety by completing and paying for a volunteer background check.
Did You Know?
ZCS, like other public schools, has a no-idling policy for vehicles on campus. The purpose of the policy is to limit vehicle emissions that might be brought into the schools and adversely impact the health of our students and staff. If you are stopped on campus for more than 5 minutes, please remember to turn off your engine. We thank you for abiding by this policy to help reduce the exposure to these emissions.
