Re-Envision Update
Bryant/Pattengill
October 15, 2018
Greetings Bryant/Pattengill Staff and Families,
Happy Fall! I SO enjoy seeing earthy tones from the leaves colorize our community and appreciate the changing of the seasons. It’s been a wonderful beginning to the 2018-2019 school year!
This is an exciting year for the Bryant/Pattengill commUNITY! We are in the midst of Re-Envisioning for Bryant/Pattengill school to select a program that will provide each and every student a high quality education. We are building on our critical mission “to inspire every student to think, to learn, to achieve and to care,” as we explore what Bryant/Pattengill will look like in the near future.
We have a committed Bryant/Pattengill Advisory Committee comprised of staff, parents and school leadership with a great deal of effort to discover a school program that fits our Core Values:
Aligned to established community and district values
Equitable
Research-based
Gives Bryant/Pattengill an advantage/edge
Accessible for All
Developmentally designed to support early/upper elementary
The Advisory Committee's role is to study possible programs for the re-envision of Bryant/Pattengill. Many of you have asked and are wondering about program, what does that mean? In short, we are looking for a research based, specialized curriculum aligned to the state standards that has a unique area of focus. Schools with programs offer a specific educational opportunity that impacts teaching and learning in a significant way. For example, we have explored International Baccalaureate, STEAM/Project Based Learning, and World Language Immersion schools. To find out more information about these schools, click here.
The Bryant/Pattengill Advisory committee has been diligently working together using decision making processes, touring schools, and exploring research based programs at schools in the local area. They will culminate by bringing forward recommendations to inform and advise our Superintendent, Dr. Swift, this fall.
Additionally, as we embark upon a new journey for Bryant/Pattengill schools, I will continue to provide updates to our staff and community about our Re-Envisioning process. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email at alston@aaps.k12.mi.us.
Onward and upward,
Melita
