Students will return to school around 1:30 at which time they will be provided pizza. Students will return to 8th period.
Preparing for the Cold Weather
Please make sure that your child dresses for the weather. Our school assumes that anyone sent to school will be prepared for the conditions outside. Due to the structure of our school's arrival and dismissal it is necessary that students come prepared for the weather. Students need to have warm coats, hats, gloves and boots (if necessary). Dismissal can take up to 20 minutes. We encourage you to label your child's items in the event that they get lost.
During appropriate weather there are times 5th graders may be permitted to have free time outside. As in our elementary schools, if temperatures and wind chill are higher than 20 degrees there is a possibility of outdoor free time.
Model UN News
Congratulations to all 6-8th graders who participated. This year at John Carroll University there were 400 students, from 18 schools in the region who participated in the Cleveland Council on World Affairs MUN Conference.
Twenty-six students in grades 6-8 from BMMS participated. Out of those, eighteen (18!) of them received an award. Real-world topics that students debated in committees included: Cybersecurity, Improving Access to Clean Water and Medical Supplies in Developing Nations, Loss of Human Rights in Conflicts Across the Middle East, and Protecting Women’s Rights at Refugee Camps.
One of our students, 8th grader, Ethan Juhasz, received the "Gavel Award" in his committee, which is the highest award one can achieve at the conference.
The following students received accolades:
For 2nd place “Excellent Delegation”: Ethan Juhasz, Annalise Kammerman, Faris Ashriem, Wyatt Black, Hannah Elsehaly, and Leo Raaijmakers.
For “Honorable Mention”: Sophia Li, Hailey Gandias, Emma Smeader, Renee Lapurga, Rose Henry, Chahak Gupta, Nathan Barrett, Henry Maxwell, Quinn Dicillo, Owen Dettmer, Ellie Conner, and Emma Escalier
Mrs. Jennings is proud of the hard work all of the students put into this program. In the seven years of running MUN, this conference produced the most amount of award recipients.
