Message from Brenda
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students
At this time of the year the Senior Management Team are busily preparing for the next academic year ensuring everything is in place ready to go in August! Meanwhile the teachers are completing the finishing touches on your child’s annual report which will be available on the Gateway by 3:00 pm on Thursday 14th June.
Update on Staffing for 2018/19
This year we welcome two staff to teaching positions in the school. Andrew (Andy) Pattison, who will be our new PE teacher, and Dani Jakeway, who will work three days per week in our Individual Needs Department. All other teaching staff remain the same.
Teacher Placements for 2017/18
The class teachers for each year group are as follows.
Year 1 - Margaret Scholten and Paula Lamont
Year 2 - Sharon Matthews and Jessica Scott
Year 3 - Indi Kalsi and Mary Rutkowski
Year 4 - Lucy Hui and Rachel Lavery
Year 5 - Chris Angelosante and Robyn Bellerby
Year 6 - Nia Sexton and Louise Bott
Student Placements
Teachers and the Senior Management Team have spent considerable time allocating students to classes. As part of this process we ask each student to nominate 5 students who they would like to be in class with next year. We guarantee that each student will have at least one of the children on their list.
As you can imagine this is a big jigsaw puzzle which we take very seriously, knowing the children and teachers very well. All students have now been allocated to classes and they will have an opportunity to meet their new teacher and classmates on Friday 22nd June, from 11:30am -12:30pm. At this time they will also receive an introductory letter from their new teacher which they will bring home to you. Please look out for this in your child’s diary.
Glenealy School Council (SC)
At the end of this academic year, two of our long standing members will be leaving the School Council having served 6 years with us. (As per the ESF ordinance, the maximum time allowed to serve on the same School Council is 6 years).
We have been privileged to have Asit Shah (Community Representative) working alongside the SC team in his role as Chair of our Finance Sub-Committee. Asit has shared his expertise with the team and has helped us organise and simplify many processes so that they can be understood by all. Asit has also been an enthusiastic promoter of information technology and has helped the school with his vision for innovation in this area.
Dixon Nguyen (Support Staff Representative) will also step down after 6 years on the School Council. Many thanks to our Chair, Andy Lowe, and all members of the School Council who have supported the school over this academic year.
Leavers Assemblies
As we have a number of families moving out of Hong Kong over the summer, we will be saying farewell to students over the last two assemblies. Parents of leavers will receive an email from Rekha Mahbubani, our Admissions Secretary, informing you of the assembly date related to your family and you are welcome to attend. We will bid farewell to all Year 6 students at the Graduation ceremony, on Tuesday 26th June.
Year 6 students leaving Hong Kong will also be farewelled at the Leavers Assemblies.
The final two assemblies will be take place on:
- Friday 22nd June at 2.15pm
- Friday 29th June at 11.15am (early close at 12 noon)
Kind regards
Brenda

The school uniform ordering web site (www.schooluniform.hk) is up and running again and parents may now pre-order uniform for the new school year for delivery in early August. Please note that there is a new sizing scale – check the web site for measurements. If you wish to arrange a fitting session of uniform in the new sizing, please contact Becky via email at pta@glenealy.net.
