Roberts Middle School
Grit: Volume 25
Dear Roberts,
We are constantly communicating who we are by how we speak and do things. The things we do and say are symbols of who we are as a person. As I was at Disney this past weekend, I saw so many people with tattoos of Mickey Mouse and with the name of Walt Disney tattooed on them. I was perplexed and tried to understand why people would put the brand of Disney permanently on their body. Then it clicked to me that the brand is the symbol of who they are as a person. Most companies have logos, but few have been able to convert those logos into meaningful symbols. This made me think about the brand of Roberts. What is our brand? Who are we? What do we believe? This is a school that has the arrogance to believe in ourselves and each and every student. This school believes all means all. This school believes that teachers should be treated with the utmost respect, grace, and dignity. This is a school that will put family first and above the call of duty. I want Roberts to be a symbol of hard work, service, and family.
Roberts Teachers, it starts with us believing that each and every student has a reserve tank of untapped potential! As we sit in 3rd place in reading and 1st in math on the current Mock Testing, there is more work to be done. I am proud of your hard work. Now starts the craziness of Hyper-focusing on the data of each student. We will accomplish our goal by diving into the data student by student. Thank you for loving kids! Thank you for all that you do for our school. One day if anyone decides to wear a RMS Aviator Tattoo, I hope it will symbolize the arrogance to believe that every student is capable of the extraordinary.
Jorly
