Dear Edison Community,
Reflecting on the year to date, I would like to take a moment to commend both you and our dedicated students for the incredible commitment and resiliency you have demonstrated towards adapting to this year. So much to be proud of as your principal!
On Wednesday, Dr. Hammond shared an update on a potential return to in-person learning through a hybrid learning model. As long as the downward trend in COVID- 19 rates continues within OMSD, San Bernardino County and surrounding counties, we are projected to offer a form of in-person instruction beginning April 5, 2021.
To help us better prepare for a possible return to in-person instruction and address your child’s needs, please submit your choice today for each child attending Edison: (One Survey Per Student): Learning Options Survey
Although we are still in the process of finalizing the district’s Hybrid Learning Model, I can share a brief description of this form of instruction as you consider a possible return to in-person this year. Hybrid instruction will involve a combination of in-person and online learning that may differ among grade levels.
For example, one option would involve students being divided into two smaller groups (A and B) in order to reduce the total number of students on campus. Students will attend in-person on their assigned day/time (A or B), allowing for greater levels of physical distancing and modified social interaction. While the A group is in person, the B group will complete the day’s assignments and activities online, from home, and vice versa when the B group is in person.
Families opting to keep their children fully online will continue in much the same way as they currently do. Attention will be given to keeping families with multiple students on the same schedule, making scheduling and childcare arrangements easier to coordinate and manage.
We will be communicating detailed class schedules and plans for hybrid learning before any transition to assist our families in visualizing our students’ instructional experience in a hybrid learning format should a safe return to in-person instruction be possible.

It truly will be a happy day at Edison when we can, once again, welcome our students’ joyous and smiling faces safely back to campus. Students that submit pictures will be entered into a raffle for some great books and other prizes!
Chaffey Parent Information Night: March 10, 6:30 pm
Please join Chaffey High School staff as they welcome incoming freshman for next year. Learn about programs, graduation requirements and much more. Chaffey counselors will be at our 8th Grade Parent Night to speak about registration and will answer any questions.
Modified Office Operations: 7:15 am - 3:45 pm
Starting Monday, March 1 we are adjusting office operations to support families and our community with enrollment and other questions while also reducing health risks to families and staff. Although the office doors are locked for the time being, we will continue serving our families via telephone, email, Zoom video conference, and/or by advance appointment during our normal business hours. The health and safety of our community is our top priority.

Get Help Buying Food: Pandemic Benefits Coming Soon
While schools are closed due to COVID-19, families may receive food benefits for eligible children. These food benefits are called Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT), or P-EBT. P-EBT is meant to help families buy meals for their children while schools are closed.
Only students that qualify for free and reduced meals will receive the P-EBT card. Parents should fill out a meal application online -- submit your application today: https://wa1.omsd.net/fma/
In order for your child to receive their benefits without delay, it is important that we have your current mailing address. Please call our main office at 909-984-5618 as soon as possible if your mailing address has changed. If you have students enrolled in other school districts you will need to do the same for each district.

LCAP Survey is Now Open: ThoughtExchange
As we plan for our three-year Local Control Accountability Plan and Five-Year Action Plan, we have experienced an unprecedented year together and look forward to planning for in-person academic programs, social-emotional supports, and extracurricular opportunities for students. A direct link to the survey has been sent through email to all families.

Middle School Meet Ups with Ms. Espinoza
Middle School students may connect and socialize every Wednesday and Friday during students' scheduled lunch times. Ms. Espinoza our Campus Mentor facilitates these groups and all interested 7-8 grade students are welcomed to join in. Student may access the Zoom invite from their SchoolLoop email. Lunch Pick Up: Tuesday and Friday
OMSD schools will provide meals twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Families will receive meals for 3 days on Tuesday and meals for 4 days on Friday. Milk will be provided in half gallons on both days. Meals are provided in bulk so please be prepared to exit your car and pick up your meal bag. Safety is a priority -- we follow strict physical distancing guidelines and require that you wear a face mask.
Parents must provide student meal ID card or name and birthday for children not enrolled in an OMSD school. All children ages 1-18 are eligible and do not need to be present to receive meals.

Our absence reporting line is operational twenty-four hours a day, so you can call 909-984-5618 option 3 anytime. You may also email Mrs. Tilley, our Attendance Clerk, directly at email@example.com. Absences must be reported before 9:15 A.M.
