Director's Message
Dear all,
I hope you had a lovely weekend.
I am sure you all enjoyed Ski and Skate Friday. Thank you for your efforts to ensure a safe and successful day. We can look forward to another successful outing this week!
I was proud to host the SGIS Board meeting and AGM at ISBerne on Friday. Around 30 Heads of school attended and were suitably impressed by our wonderful school.
Last Wednesday I attended a virtual meeting with the Anti-discrimination in International Schools group. The session was enlightening and inspiring. The initial group has now formed 6 sub-groups to continue their work in different areas. The areas are as follows:
- Humanising pedagogy
- Leadership
- Accreditation
- Governance
- Agency
- Recruitment
I will share the slides once I have received them, together with a sign-up sheet if you wish to join a particular group. Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like to know more. I am thinking about joining the Accreditation group. A book was also recommended: Becoming a Totally Inclusive School - a Guide for teachers and School Leaders. Jill will order a copy for the library for us. Thank you Jill.
The PTC has organised a new style event for parents and staff which will take place on Thursday after school. We are invited to partake of refreshments, enjoy conversations and connect with each other in the Aula. I look forward to seeing you there! Thank you to the PTC for this treat!
Have a great week!
Best wishes,
- Denise

Some Ski Friday notes:
Ski Groups - please tell the children their ski group number on the train. It’s on the attendance sheet.
At the end of the day the students should assemble by the number for their Grade level
Anything left behind at Gümligen station should be put into the van
I’ll share an updated staffing list for Ski and Skate on Thursday.
If you have any feedback and suggestions please let me know.

PYP
Dear All,
I hope that you all had a lovely weekend.
By all accounts our first Ski Friday was a success. Those of you who went to Zweisimmen, I hope you enjoyed being outdoors. Skating was another success but our numbers were down due to many children being ill. Thank you to all of you for ensuring the safety and happiness of all our students.
Reports are due on Wednesday and thank you to all of you who have shared your reports with me. The comments I have read are very thorough and show how much you all have a holistic understanding of our students.
Our Wednesday sessions this week will be about report reviewing and staff wellbeing. We will be outdoors for the second session so please have appropriate shoes.
Have a great week.
- Richard
MYP
The Reports Guidelines below inform you of all you need to know regarding reporting sessions. Please be reminded that new students who arrive within 6 weeks of the reporting period will not receive a report - the 6 weeks does not include the 3 week winter holidays.
For Advisors:
Please email the parents of all new students within two weeks of their start date to introduce yourselves and to inform the parents of how their child/children are settling in. Thanks!
Have a good week ahead!
