Early Release Reminders
In Need of School Supplies?
We have extra supplies, backpacks, etc. for students who could use them. Please reach out to the Hawks View counselor, Sydney Allred, at (503)-825-5404, or shustler@sherwood.k12.or.us if you are in need of assistance with school supplies or backpacks. Names and information are kept confidential.
Lunch Information and Fees
For the past two years, most public schools in the U.S. have provided free meals to students. That federal pandemic relief program has now ended, and beginning this year, there will be a fee for school lunches. All families are encouraged to fill out the Free and Reduced Application, electronically, on our District website under the Nutrition Services Department page. Once there, navigate to Forms. Lunch and breakfast pricing can be found on the Nutrition Services website as well.
Bus Information
All parents/guardians of students riding District buses can find current route information via the Ride 360 app. You will need your student's ID number, and will need to enter student birthday in a MMDDYYYY format. For more information on this app, please visit the Transportation Department website here.
Going Home Plans
If you need to make a necessary change in dismissal plans, please call the office before 1:30 (12:30 on Early Release days) as teachers often do not have time to check phone messages or emails during the school day.
Arrival and Dismissal
Thank you for your help in following our arrival and dismissal procedures! It has greatly helped our traffic flow and getting kids home safely and efficiently. In watching dismissal, there are a few things that would be helpful to note:
If you are picking up your child (walking) in 3-5th grade, please meet them closer to the track. We have had a pile up near the portables and that area is designated for parents to pick up in the car line. If we can funnel our walkers towards the track, that will help teachers keep a closer eye on car line students. If your 3rd-5th grade student is meeting a younger sibling, they will come out the main entrance for a meeting location.
Hawks View Choir
All interested 4th and 5th graders are invited to be a part of the 2022-2023 “Singing Hawks” Choir. If your student is interested in joining, please click here for more information.
Superintendent Meet & Greet/Listening Session
Our new Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Lyon will be hosting an opportunity on Thursday, September 8th to meet members of the community, answer questions about the upcoming school year, and discuss the proposed social science curriculum for grades K-5. This will be the first of several community engagement opportunities with Dr. Lyon in the coming school year.
Please join us at Ridges Elementary in the Laurel Side Cafeteria on Thursday, September 8th, 6:00-7:30pm.
Hawks View Fun Run
The Hawks View Fun Run will take place on Friday, September 30 and includes our PreK-5th grade students. This is our largest fundraiser of the year and we appreciate your support! More information will be sent home with your student in the coming weeks. Families are invited to attend and cheer for their student. We will have several check in tables down on the field. Parents should visit one of the tables to sign in and receive a visitor sticker. We are looking forward to this fun event!
Interested in Volunteering at Hawks View for 2022-2023?
Volunteering information is a three step process. Please be sure you are completing all steps.
Part I - Volunteer Database Registration
If you are new to Hawks View, or have not entered your information in our volunteer database, please visit www.helpcounter.net/volunteer and follow the instructions for New Volunteer. Your information will be submitted to the volunteer database where we will process it and send you a link allowing you to pick from the volunteer activities. If you prefer to use an App, please follow this link for directions.
If you are returning to Hawks View and already have information in our volunteer program, please visit www.helpcounter.net/volunteer and type in your email address. The volunteer system will send you an email to this address asking you to update your personal information and volunteer activities already on file.
It’s that easy to do! A little volunteering goes a long way and we are happy to have you at Hawks View Elementary! If you have any questions, please email
Part II - Background Checks
All parents wishing to volunteer in the Sherwood School District are required to complete a background check each year. This service is free of charge and is necessary to ensure the safety of our students. Background check forms are filled out online on the district website www.sherwood.k12.or.us under Resources/Volunteer Opportunities. Parents will not be allowed to volunteer in the classroom or attend field trips until the school has received notification of approval.
Background checks can take up to 7-10 days for processing. You may call the school office to check on your clearance status.
Part III - Vaccinations
Vaccinations are still required by the Governor’s mandate, however religious and medical exceptions are still available. All volunteers will need to show proof of vaccination, or proof of vaccination exception approval before being allowed to volunteer in the building. If you need an exception form, please contact the office.
Community Information
Sports and enrichment activities in our community can be found on our District website, under the Resources tab, and then Community Information.
