I wanted to let you know what is happening in Fort Saskatchewan for Pride Week 2022, it runs June 10th – 16th with some amazing events.
• Pride Flag Raising and Proclamation at Families First Society (June 10, 12:30 p.m.)
• Pride Night for 12+ youth at BGC (June 10, 7 – 10 p.m.)
• Drag BINGO and Karaoke at the Bear’s Den (June 11, 6:30 p.m.)
• Inclusive service at the Fort Saskatchewan United Church (June 12, 10 a.m.)
• Pride PlayMob at the RCMP Park (June 14, 6 – 7:30 p.m.)
• Drag Make-Up session by Dragging Youth at the Bridge Wellness Hub for Youth (June 15, 5 – 7 p.m.)
• Reading with Drag Queen Royalty at the Fort Saskatchewan Library (Virtual showing on FB)

Anger Management for Teens Workshop - June 17, 2022
21-22 WesTEC Innovation Scholarship - Application Deadline is June 17, 2022
Description: In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of WesTEC, Dow Canada is recognizing two outstanding students in Elk Island Public Schools for their academic achievements, demonstration of innovation, and pursuits in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). WesTEC is an annual conference that nurtures, celebrates and elevates Dow Canada’s innovation culture and entrepreneurship.
Criteria: Any grade 12 student with aspirations to pursue a career in STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), with good academic standing. Successful candidates will be selected based on their 300-word abstract submission demonstrating some level of innovation, creativity, and impact.
Student Abstract: Please provide a 300-word abstract describing a time in your life (not limited to STEM activities) where you took an innovative approach to solving a problem that made a positive impact. The abstract should describe the problem, the challenges faced, and the outcome.
Award: Two $500 scholarships will be awarded in November at the Dow Centennial Center in Fort Saskatchewan. The award winners will also be invited to shadow a Dow employee in a discipline of their choosing for a day.

Lions Legacy Scholarship Award
To qualify, applicants must:
satisfy entrance requirements at a post-secondary institution;
demonstrate leadership qualities;
be recognized as an individual of honesty and integrity; and,
display a commitment to his/her community through service work for youth groups,
senior citizens, or non-profit organizations.
Rotary Scholarship Application
While school marks are important especially for acceptance into the post secondary institutions of choice,
because Rotary International is a service organization whose motto is “Service Above Self”, more weight
is given to evidence of leadership, service and volunteerism by the applicants.
1. This annual scholarship is open to all graduating students from any Fort Saskatchewan high
school.
2. Students may apply in their graduating year or within one year of their graduation if they have
chosen to upgrade and/or take a “gap year” prior to attending a post-secondary program.
3. Students must verify their acceptance by and attendance at the accredited institution to which they
have applied.

School Clubs
Daily: Movie Club is held in Room 20 everyday @ lunchtime. Enjoy watching movies
with friends, come relax, eat, and watch some of the best movies out there.
Tuesdays: Book Club is held in the library @ lunchtime. Love graphic novels, fantasy, science fiction or mysteries?? Come share your favorite books and spend time with friends during lunch.
Wednesday: GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) is held in Room 53 @ lunchtime. GSAs are social groups. We provide a sense of community and a safe space for LGBTQ+ and allied youth to build a social community. Everyone is welcome.
Thursday: Mindfulness is held in the FNMI Room @ lunchtime. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress.
