Grobe and Morris Newsletter
Week of December 12th
Grobe's Corner
We were great learners this week as we started learning all about what an expository paper looks like and the basics of how to format this style of writing! It is much different from the personal narratives we have been writing and we will continue to focus on this new concept for some time!
In reading we started a historical fiction novel called Number the Stars. We are reading through this book together and focusing on our inferencing skills and higher level thinking as we dive into this genre the next two weeks.

In Science we began our Matter and Energy Unit. We have learned the differences between mass and weight and the kids had fun finding the mass of several different items. Next week we will continue our unit by discussing volume and water displacement. We have several amazing experiments coming up!
Please make sure that your children are practicing their multiplication facts daily. The math district assessment will be 80% multiplication and division. Please have them solve the following problems at home and bring to me each day for a reward:
Sunday Problem: 84 X 32 =
Monday Problem: 67 X 18 =
Tuesday Problem: 1,485 X 6 =
Wednesday Problem: 436/4 =
Thursday Problem: 876/7 =
Thank you so much for all that you do!
