Who was Pericles and what did he do?
Pericles was a leader of a democratic group. He made many improvements to the city of Athens. His biggest achievement was building the Parthenon, a temple to the goddess Athena. Pericles also made many reforms that strengthened democracy. The most important change was to have the city pay a salary to its officials. This meant that poor citizens could hold a public office.
The Trojan Horse
This is a picture of what we think the Trojan horse may have looked like. This horse was used to win the Trojan war by climbing inside it and hiding until night.
The olympics
The Olympics started in ancient Greek as a way to honor Zeus but have grown since then.

Greek Gods
The Greeks honored a family of gods called the twelve Olympians. They where Zeus,Hera, Artemis, Athena, Demeter, Apollo, Ares, Aphrodite, Hermes, and Poseidon. They honored these gods by sacrificing animals and food and building temples. The Olympic games even started as a way to honor Zeus by coming together every four years.

The Significance of the Parthenon
The Parthenon is a temple to the goddess Athena. It was completed in 438 B.C under the rule of Pericles. This was his greatest achievement. The temple was made of fine marble with columns surrounding it on all four sides. Inside was a statue of Athena that was 40 feet high. But it disappeared long ago.
How did the Greeks use visual and dramatic arts in their life?
The Greeks where the first people known to write dramas. These plays where written during 400 B.C. Another type of Greek play was a tragedy. A tragedy is a play that usually ends in disaster. A Greek tragedy consisted of several scenes that featured the main characters of the story while a chorus sang in between the scenes.
What I enjoyed most about learning about ancient greece
I really enjoyed learning about the gods. I thought worshiping one family of gods was interesting. I also enjoyed learning about daily life in Athens. It is interesting to see how people lived so long ago.
