Dear East Families,
Congratulations to our SLEHS Drama Department on their spectacular performance of "The Play That Goes Wrong" this past weekend! We are looking forward to seeing "The Sponge Bob Musical" in the spring! Also, congratulations to our swimmers who raced in the State meet last weekend! We are very proud of your accomplishments!!
We want to remind parents that there is no school from November 22-24. Please be aware that in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, our offices will be closed until Monday, November 27th. Please note that email and phone responses will likely be delayed for several days. If you are in need of immediate assistance regarding an emergency, you will need to call 911 or your local police department. Resources for supporting those in crisis can be found here

We want to express our deepest gratitude and congratulations to Mrs. Mara Elwart for her service to the students and families of South Lyon East. Mrs. Elwart will be retiring at the end of November and while we are sad to see her go, we are excited for her and wish her the best in her next adventures
AP CALCULUS TURKEY TROT
Check out our AP Calculus students working on their annual AP Calculus Turkey trot. There may not have been any real Turkeys or running, but the students had the opportunity to practice their skills along the way!
TECHNICAL DRAWING "TINY HOUSE" PROJECTS
Our Technical Drawing students designed, and created models with a "tiny home" concept. Students used CAD software to develop their designs and provided feedback on models and design concepts.
THE GIVING TREE
The South Lyon East Key Club is sponsoring the Giving Tree this year to help four East families that are in need of some assistance this holiday season. Beginning November 28th, students and staff can stop by the Student Services office or the media center to pick an ornament off of one of the Giving Trees, then purchase the item and bring it back unwrapped with the tag attached. All items should be returned or be shipped to student services or the media center by December 18th.
You can also shop and give back online using the Giving Tree Amazon Wishlist or the Giving Tree Target Wishlist. All items will be directly shipped to the school when purchased. If you would like to contribute by purchasing a gift card from stores such as Target, Walmart, Kohls, Kroger, Meijer, a Gas Station, etc. those can be sent in to Mrs. King in the media center. Please contact Mrs. King with any questions.

WINTER WEATHER
As you know, we will soon be experiencing winter weather. At times, this requires that notifications are sent out as soon as possible regarding possible early dismissal or cancelations. If you wish to receive these notification via our Skylert process, please make sure your contact information is up to date in Skyward. You can also follow us on social media for school closing updates. (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram). Also, please remind your students to allow extra time traveling to school during inclement weather.
DROP IN TUTOR SESSIONS
Drop in tutoring is now available during all three lunches every Thursday in the media center. Students can drop in to receive extra help in Math, English/Writing, Science, and Social Studies. Tutoring will be provided by NHS students.
YEARBOOK SPONSORSHIPS - REMINDER
The South Lyon East Yearbook is looking for commercial and business sponsors! There are three levels of sponsorship:
Silver ($50-Business name published in yearbook; Certificate of appreciation to display in place of business).
Gold ($90- Business name published in yearbook; Certificate of appreciation to display in place of business; Business name listed on yearbook social media sites; Business name listed on yearbook staff t-shirt)
Platinum ($180- Business name published in yearbook; Certificate of appreciation to display in place of business; Business name listed on social media sites; Business name listed on yearbook staff t-shirt; Business name listed on banner to be displayed at a minimum of 3 major school events.)

AP CORNER: LATE REGISTRATION & AP TEST DATES
AP Macro Students: AP Macro is a second semester course. Please wait until second semester to join the AP Classroom and pay your exam fee.
AP testing will take place during the first two weeks of May, a calendar for specific testing dates can be found here.

Attention Seniors- Click here to learn about the SLCS Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process for the 2023-2024 school year. The application will be available in December. In the meantime, parents and students can create their FSA ID.
- Every student should complete the FAFSA to determine eligibility for scholarships, grants and loans.
- Every student should check the box that they receive free lunch this school year.
- When completing the FAFSA, you will choose the 2024-25 school track.
