Youth Media Awards

The Newbery and Caldecott Medals (and other prestigious awards) were handed out this past week at the Midwinter Meeting of the American Library Association in Philadelphia. Here at the SDCOE Mock Newbery we picked THE TRUE BLUE SCOUTS OF SUGAR MAN SWAMP by Kathi Appelt as our winner with ERUPTION! by Elizabeth Rusch as our honor book. Sadly, neither book was recognized by the real committee. For a complete list of winners, check here.

CSLA: Journey to Expertise

Don't forget that the annual conference of the California School Library Association comes to San Diego this weekend, February 6th-9th. It's a wonderful opportunity to attend stimulating sessions, network among colleagues, schmooze with authors, and see the latest products vendors have to offer. I'll be doing a Sunday morning session at 9:00 on the best children's books of 2013.
