Connecting People to Jesus & Each Other
This Sunday kids are learning the story of Naaman's servant girl. If you haven't had a chance to read it you can check it out here.
For Naaman, the instruction to be healed was simple, yet he was expecting for it to be more difficult. He almost missed the miracle in the simplicity because he was looking for hoops to jump through. I don't know about you, but the same is often true for me. I can over-complicate and over-think everything. As we start a new year, you might be tempted to make lots of resolutions or set many goals. Maybe you're ready to start over in so many areas of your life.
Sometimes, I wonder if the Lord isn't looking at me thinking: abundant life is so much simpler than this; I've removed these hoops for you to jump through & replaced them with my grace. What does Jesus want for you this year? It's not a mystery! In fact, he makes it really simple. In Mark 12:30-31 Jesus says this:
"The most important commandment is this: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”
This is what the Lord wants for us this year! This is what our church is going to be about. Love the Lord with all your heart {connect to Jesus} and love your neighbor {connect to each other}. Let's focus on these two simple things: how can I love the Lord with EVERYTHING I am, and how can I love those around me well?
