"If It's to Be, It's Up to Me!"
STEM Day Take Two
Coming up this Friday will be our 2nd STEM Day! Teachers participated in planning for this event this past week. However, if you have any questions at all, please be sure and contact Amy McClure or Regina Glass prior to Friday. We certainly appreciate all of the time and preparation that they have put into this to make it as smooth as possible for us. I will never forget the lessons that we learned in 3rd grade last time. Watching students come together as a team was amazing! It was great and the kids got so excited!!
December PLC Meetings
Due to a shortened month there will be NO PLC meetings for December. Merry Christmas! However, in January we will continue our mindset study. We will get the information out soon that you will need for January's meetings.
Christmas Store
The Christmas Store will be open all week for students to visit. Mrs. Hensley sent out a schedule last week. Please be sure and visit when you signed up. It is important that we have no more than two classes at a time in the store. Thank you Jill, and all of your volunteers, for making this a successful event for our students!
Common Planning (12/8)
Grade levels please make plans to attend common planning on Thursday. We will examine Dibels data and discuss Scholastic Reading Counts. This is a great program that can help motivate students to read more which is something we must do!
PBIS Minute
The PBIS committee will meet this Thursday (12/8) after school. We want to remind ALL HR teachers to be sure and let your students visit The Cave/PBIS Store on a monthly basis. We need to continually reinforce our PBIS rewards and get some Coker Cash in circulation. The key is always hanging in Pam's office.

A Pep Talk from Kid President to You
A Pep Talk on Mindset from Kid President
These videos are awesome! Teachers, please take a few minutes to share this video with your students. It is a good one and speaks volumes about mindset and motivation. Having the right mindset is so very important and as young people they still have lots of room to grow! : )
Challenge Tutoring Program
Last week I contacted our 3-5 grade level representatives and asked them to begin putting together a list of students who should be targeted for participation in our tutoring program coming up in January. I would encourage these grade levels to examine your data to determine who our strongest candidates would be. The forms are currently being copied and need to go home no later than Wednesday of this week. We've asked that they be returned before students leave next Friday (12/16) so that we can get an idea of who will be participating. In addition we would appreciate any help that we could get from to help out with the program. The program will begin at 3:00 and end at 4:00. Thanks in advance for all of your help in pulling this together!

Beard Contest - Heroes Campaign
We have now placed the containers for students to put change into to vote for me to keep or lose my beard. This is a great way for us to help raise more funds for our Heroes campaign. We usually raise anywhere from $200-$300 every year. We will be collecting money up until Winter Break and as usual, the grade level with the greatest gains in benchmark scores, will do the honors of shaving my beard. That is, if, we raise more money to lose the beard. : )
