Types of Water

Fresh Water
- naturally occurring water on the the Earth's surface
- low salinity
- can be found in ice sheets, ice caps, glaciers, icebergs, bogs, ponds, lakes, rivers and streams, and underground as groundwater in aquifers and underground streams
Brackish Water
- has more salinity than fresh water
- not as much salinity as salt water
- may result from mixing freshwater and salt water
- can be found where fresh water meets salt water (ex. estuaries, etc.)
Salt Water
- water from a sea or ocean
- high salinity
