BEARS! Be Empathetic, Accountable, Respectful, Safe
WELCOME BACK
Arrival, Dismissal, and Visitors
Arrival
Our school and office open starting at 7:30am each day. Once students arrive, they may enter through the front door and go directly to their classroom for breakfast and to start their morning learning routine. We will have staff outside starting at 7:30am each day to support the drop off car lane and bus arrival. Families who walk, need to drop and go by our front door. Please understand that this is for safety and security as well as allowing our classroom teachers to start instruction quickly.
Dismissal
School is dismissed at 2:45 PM.
Bus-all bus riders will be supervised by Bishop staff until they are on the school bus, parked on Galapego St.
Car Pick Up/Walkers-each grade level will line up in front of the school, by Mansfield Ave. Check out our painted sidewalk numbers to see where your child will line up. If you need to pick up your child and walk, please confirm with classroom teacher in the line up location. If you are going to use our drop off/pick up lane, please be patient as our staff will work together to get your child(ren) to your car. We ask all drivers to stay in their vehicle.
Champions-if your student is signed up for Champions, they will go directly to Room 15 after school.
Visitors
We welcome visitors and volunteers at our school. Each time you enter the school, you will need to check in at our main office. You will need to have a valid driver's license in order to get a visitor's pass. Visitors and volunteers in our classroom need to have prearranged with the classroom teacher. The best way to reach teacher's would be through email. All email addresses are available on our Bishop Website under the Staff Directory tab. If you would like to be a volunteer, please check in with our front office for a volunteer application.
Thank you for understanding our arrival and dismissal procedures. Our top priority is safety and to ensure a positive learning environment. All Bishop Staff wear orange or yellow vests for easy visibility each morning and afternoon. Please ask a staff member if you need assistance. Thank you again.

LEGO CLUB FOR 5TH/6TH GRADE
FIRST LEGO League is a club for 5th and 6th graders that focuses on building working robots and programming them. Working as a team, students will explore and research a real-world topic, design and build a model using LEGO® elements to compete in the Robot Game and create an Innovation Project. This year’s theme is “City Shaper,” where students will plan and design a project related to community issues. Students will compete against other schools in the region and show off their project on Saturday, November 9th at the University of Colorado, Denver. This club will meet after school in the STEM Lab on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45pm to 4:00pm from September 10th through November 12th. Space is limited to the first 10 students, sign up will be on a first come, first served basis. There will also be a mandatory parent meeting in September for students who are in this club. Please contact Mr. Valente for more details!
COUNSELING CORNER
On September 3rd and 4th, each classroom will have a discussion with their teacher and the counselor about Safe2Tell. Safe2Tell is a program that is available throughout Colorado to help students and adults to make our schools and communities safer, by providing an anonymous way to report concerns. Safe2Tell empowers bystanders by giving an opportunity to report any concerns about their safety or the safety of others. Reports could include such concerns as bullying (in person or online), mental health concerns (including depression), stealing, threatening, fights or plans to fight, substance use concerns, or any other potentially dangerous situation. Each classroom will have an age-appropriate discussion about the kinds of things that they might want to report, as well as a discussion of other people (including parents and staff at school) with whom they can discuss concerns.
If you have any questions or concerns (about this, or any other topics), please let me know. My email is kim_fickas@engschools.net ; my phone number is 303-806-2406. You may also access additional information about Safe2Tell at their website, safe2tell.org.
