21st Century Cyber Charter School Newsletter: March 2021
Notes From Our Principals
Hello to all of our students and families at 21st Century Cyber Charter School!
With spring right around the corner, we are glad to see the warmer weather coming our way. One benefit of being a cyber school is that as students, you can always be working in your classes - despite the weather outside. Enjoy the sunshine as well!
Please continue checking for new school events, virtual outings, and updates. We are hard at work on our testing preparations for the upcoming April and May testing weeks. All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will be participating in the 2021 Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) April 27- April 29. Algebra I, English Literature, and Biology Keystone testing is May 18- May 20. If you have any questions regarding testing, your location, what students should expect for the testing days or anything else, please feel free to contact your academic advisor. We are working hard to ensure that testing will be safe and secure for every student and staff member involved.
All information obtained from the assessment will serve as valuable information for course selections, planning for live labs and future school programs, developing curriculum and in-service training of teachers, and informing the public about student achievement.
As parents, please help your students prepare for the assessment by encouraging them to get plenty of sleep the night before and providing them with a good breakfast on the morning of the assessment. Also, parents can reassure their students that the assessment gives them an opportunity to demonstrate their learning which helps teachers to plan the best possible instruction for them. So please encourage your student to do their best!
With all of this said, please continue to make this school year the best school year so far by remembering these strategies for success:
Spring is not the end of the line! Continue working through your classes and submitting work.
Give yourself incentives! If you feel like you’re getting stressed while working on assignments, take a 3 minute break and focus on things you enjoy! Take a snack break, go for a walk outside, even getting up and moving around can help break up the monotony of your day!
Don’t forget your teachers, academic advisors and school counselors are here to support you! As a school, we all want what’s best for our students to help them succeed. Be sure to answer their emails or calls as often as possible.
Greetings 21CCCS students and families! Let’s think Springtime! This year, the first day of Spring in the United States is March 20th. As we know, Spring is a time of growth and renewal. The weather often gets warmer and the flowers begin to bloom. This is a great time to think about a growth mindset and what that means.
To have a growth mindset means that you believe your talents and skills can be developed through hard work and dedication. You see failures and mistakes as opportunities to grow. With a growth mindset, you control your own goals and have the ability to achieve them through effort and perseverance.
As we approach the conclusion of Quarter 3 at the end of this month, it is a great time to believe that everyone can grow and achieve through hard-work. Remember to utilize all the help that is available to you so that you can finish Q3 and enter Q4 strong. Go to Live Labs, read through all your Moodle lessons and submit assignments, participate in class and ask questions, and visit the various VOs available. All of these resources will help you grow and achieve your goals by the end of the school year. Your Counselors, Teachers, Academic Advisors, and Principals are all here to help you be successful and encourage your growth mindset, but don’t forget to believe in yourself and know that you can grow!
We wish everyone a beautiful Spring!

Student Mission Statement Project
Students, Let's Hear Your Voices!
21st Century has a school-wide mission statement that includes the school’s aims and values in serving our students and families. In our collaborative efforts to help students’ reach their highest potentials, we want to hear from our students!
During the first week of March, students are invited to complete a survey on the homepage of Moodle. Then, a small group of students will analyze the survey results and compose an official student mission statement that reflects the educational aims and values of our student body.

Community Feedback Forum
The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and Interim CEO, Brian Cote, will be holding a monthly 21CCCS Community Feedback Forum for both parents and students. This will be an opportunity to learn about the process of the school’s curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Parents and students are encouraged to share information on things that have been going well for our school, as well as ideas/suggestions to move our school forward. This forum will not be a question/answer session. If parents or students have questions during the forum, our staff will work to respond to those questions in our monthly Flex Gazette.
