Quist ROYALS Weekly News
May 12, 2023
Hello ROYALS!
First, I would like to thank each of you who contributed to celebrating and recognizing our teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. These gestures of support and care are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Last week, I shared that we will have a guest speaker on Tuesday next week to learn about the dangers and consequences of vaping. Students will engage through grade level talks. There will also be a parent session in the evening at 6pm. The parent even is virtual. You should have received information through Peachjar about how to join the session.
You probably noticed earlier this week, we have started having students exit through multiple doors of the school. This has helped reduce congestion at the main entrance. We will continue this exit procedure through the end of the school year.
These next two weeks are full with end-of-year learning and activities. Next week, each grade level will go on a field trip; 7th Grade - May 17, 6th Grade - May 18, and 8th Grade - May 19. Additional Events for the week include girls soccer championship game, choir, band, and 8th Grade BBQ (RSVP here). Along with all the activities classes are wrapping up learning. You can check your child's grades through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Please reach out to teachers with any questions and encourage your child to re-assess when they are able to finish the year strong.
Have a great week!
Karla Reider
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Lydiah Her. She won the National Junior Honor Society Outstanding Achievement Award with this award she gets a $500 college saving plan.
Great job, Lydiah! Thank you for your continued example of the Royals Spirit.
Choir Concert Update
The choir concert has been rescheduled for this coming Tuesday, May 16th, 7 p.m. in the Quist Cafetorium (same location). This change does mildly impact the Spring Sports Celebration, so here are some pertinent details:
1. The Spring Sports Celebration will remain at the same date and time (Tuesday, May 16th, 5-6 p.m.).
2. The location for the Spring Sports Celebration has changed to the Large Gym as the Cafetorium will be set up/occupied for the concert.
3. Doors for the Choir Concert will open to the public at 6:30 p.m.
4. Due to parking/traffic constraints and a slight chance of overlap, we ask that all athletes be picked up in the "hug-n-go" lane that runs parallel to the north side of the school and NOT in the main parking lot. Our hope is that this will help the transition between events as smoothly as possible.
5. The Choir Concert will begin at 7 p.m., not 6 p.m. as was previously scheduled.
6. Due to the concert time change, choir students will NOT stay after school until the concert. They are to go home. All pizza money was returned to students.
Thank you for your understanding. We are so excited that we were able to get this rescheduled in the least impactful way that still honors all students' commitment to their chosen activities!
8th grade end of year information (Repeat)
On May 25, 8th grade teachers will be hosting a breakfast for our 8th graders. We are asking for help with donut donations to make this successful. If you are able, please check out our sign-up.
8th graders will be done with school at 12:45 p.m. on May 25. Buses will be here to pick them up and take them home. Continuation is that night at 5:30 p.m. Students will meet at 5 p.m.
WEB is hosting an 8th grade send-off BBQ on May 18 from 5:30-7 p.m. Families are welcome to come. Please RSVP here if you can make it. We are trying to get an idea for numbers.
We need parent help to support our 8th grade send off. We are asking for food donations for the BBQ and will need parents to help monitor backyard games/activities during the event so that Web leaders don't have to work at their send off. If you're willing and able to help, here are our sign-ups.
