End of Quarter Information - Viewing Canvas Courses and First Quarter Grades
At the end of each quarter, courses in Canvas will conclude and will no longer be visible on the Canvas app and website. Courses for this year’s first quarter will conclude on October 13th at 11:59pm. Report cards will be generated and families will be able to view first-quarter grades on ParentVUE at the end of the day on Friday, October 21st.
How do I view my child’s report card?
Log in on ParentVue.
Select your elementary student’s name
In the left navigation bar, choose Report Card
Each new quarter, classroom teachers will publish their next quarter Canvas course. As courses are published, students and families will again be able to see current courses on the Canvas app and Canvas website. For Canvas parent resources, visit www.bluevalleyk12.org/canvas.
Parade, Bonfire, and Tailgate for BVNW Homecoming
Oxford families are invited to join Blue Valley Northwest for their 2022 homecoming activities! A parade and bonfire will take place Thursday September 29 and a tailgate party before the football game on Friday September 30. See the flier below for details!
School Assembly Wednesday, October 5th
Part of our assembly will be the Red Card message delivered by Sporting KC as we hear and participate in an anti-bullying message. By joint resolution, the Kansas State Senate and the Kansas State Board of Education, have declared the first full week in October as “Anti-Bullying Awareness Week.”
Safe Schools Reporting
Blue Valley Schools is committed to promoting and fostering a safe environment in and around all of our schools. Through the convergence of physical and intellectual security measures, we are continuously working to prevent, mitigate, respond to and recover from a wide range of emergencies. Please check out available ways to report safety concerns
Learning Connections
Being flexible and adjusting on the spot are important tools in any teacher’s class. Blue Valley assessments are divided into two buckets: formative and summative. Formative assessments described as assessments for learning, provide teachers with information on how they can help a student grow. Summative assessments, characterized as assessments of learning, occur after instruction takes place.
Read more in this Learning Connection story about how teachers use assessments to ensure instruction is meeting the needs of students.
News from PTO: Help OMS Shine the Shield!
Help OMS Shine the Shield!
The PTO is launching this campaign in lieu of having students sell things like garbage bags or coupon cards. This will be a yearly fundraiser, separate from dues or fees, and in place of selling things.
Our goal is to raise $25 per student (please consider contributing more to cover students who cannot). If we make our goal, we can fully fund the school and staff's needs (without asking again and again for contributions!) and the January Friday Knight Club will be free for all students. The grade that gets the most contributions per student will win a free Kona Ice! Click the link below to donate online.

Middle School Wrestling
Each year, Blue Valley Northwest provides all middle school students (grades 6 through 8) an opportunity to participate in a month-long wrestling season with other middle schools across the district.
The wrestling season will begin October 10 and go through Nov. 3. Practices will be held in the BVNW Wrestling Room each week on Monday and Wednesday from 5:00pm-6:15pm. Athletes will need to provide their own rides to and from practices AND meets.
Wrestlers will meet in the Commons off of the main entrance of BVNW on the first day of practice to be shown where practices will be held for the duration of the season.
If your student is interested in signing up and participating in wrestling please use the link below to sign-up:
Click HERE for the Wrestling Sign-Up Link
All students who sign up will need to complete the WRESTLING CONSENT FORM linked HERE (the last two pages of the packet) and bring this form to the first day of practice at BVNW on October 10th. Students will be required to bring this completed form before they can participate.
