Communication in the Classroom!
Ways to keep in touch this year!
3rd Grade Science Newsletter
Communication between teachers, students, and parents is an extremely important feature of a functional classroom. Your child will need to stay updated on homework, classwork, and tests, and you as a parent need information on how to best help your child! There are a few great tools I will be using this year to keep everyone in the loop. Look below for a few cool and useful examples.
Remind 101
Remind 101 is a great, free communication tool that I will use to send quick reminders to parents through a text message or an e-mail. I will use this tool to remind you of homework assignments, field trips, class updates, etc. The great things about Remind are that all of your numbers will remain anonymous, and messages can only be sent in groups of 3+ people. It's a really cool, safe tool that we can use to keep in touch all year.
Skype Education
Skype Education will be a great tool in our classroom for a few reasons. First of all, we will be connecting with other 3rd Grade Science classes from around the US and discuss what we are learning. Students will be able to connect with a virtual "pen pal" that they will stay in contact with throughout the year. Secondly, we will be engaging in some discussion with a surprise guest speaker who will talk to the students about experiments, lab skills, etc. throughout the coming year!
Wordpress
Wordpress will be used as my personal blogging site. I will post links to worksheets, helpful websites, and interesting articles throughout the semester for you and your child to access from any computer. Students will be able to pull up the Wordpress site in class as well if they need reminders for what to be working on. It will also be a great tool for me to use if I need a substitute because they will have access to my blog as well as lesson plans and curriculum that I will post to my Wordpress site, keeping students on track even when I can't be in the classroom.
