Dental Sealant Program
A dental sealant event will be taking place at Adams Elementary on May 17th-19th during the school day. This event is free and is available for students in 1st-3rd grade. A consent form, due April 18th, needs to be completed for a student to participate. See the links below for the consent form and information sheets about Dental Sealants. Dental sealants are a thin plastic coating that, when applied properly to the chewing surfaces of molar teeth, protects against tooth decay and cavities. A smooth chewing surface helps protect the tooth from decay by making it easier to clean with a toothbrush, and keeping food and germs out.
Questions- contact Julie Henderson, Licensed School Nurse 763-506-1624.

Adams Parent Advisory Council (PAC)
Items from our PAC
Parent Advisory Council participation:
In order to continue to offer fun free events throughout the year, we'll need a little help from Adams families next year. We would love to have you join the board (we're fun, I promise!). You don't need any experience; you just have to want to make Adams even more awesome for our students and families.
If a board position sounds like too much to take on right now, we could use your help with some projects next year--social media management, community outreach coordination, outdoor classroom project management, grant writing, restaurant night coordination, and Family Fun night coordination. If any of those things sounds interesting at all, let us know.
4/11: Parent Advisory Council meeting:
6:30-8 p.m. You are welcome to come @6 to socialize. Meeting starts @6:30.
There is a LOT happening at Adams. Come find out about it, and help create events for our students, families, and community. We'll even bring treats! For the kids: fun activities! Bring your students to play with their Adams friends while you connect with other adults.
You can join meetings virtually, if you like. Here's how to connect: meet.google.com/uyk-otey-hra.
4/18: Restaurant Night @ Dino's Gyro:
4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. @ 3179 Northdale Blvd; Coon Rapids
Meet up with Adams friends for a meal this month. Dino's will donate a portion of their sales to support events and programming at Adams. Be sure to tell them you're from Adams!
4/27: Family Paint & Sip Night:
Join us for a fun art night! We'll bring an artist to help lead you through making your own masterpiece & provide family friendly drinks. Cost: $5/individual OR $15/family. You must pre-register (so we have enough supplies) & there's a limit of 100 seats for this event. Register here: https://adams-family-paint-sip-art-night-copy.cheddarup.com
Side note: we won't offer birthday grams next year, so if you'd like to send a bag o' goodies to a student or teacher, here's your chance:
PAC will deliver treats to students and staff to celebrate birthdays! Cost: $5 You can order or donate a birthday gram here. (https://my.cheddarup.com/c/2022-23-birthday-grams?cart=94ace1c1-1f50-4cb4-9ac3-298fee1f5acf%21%2142034918)
From our volunteer service coordinator (VSC)
THANK YOU to our amazing Volunteer Team! We really appreciate the time that you give to our students and staff. When we need help, you are there. Adams would not be the same without you!
Come read with us!
KINDERGARTEN: Work with our Kindergartners to build their reading and math skills (2-hour training is provided and required).
1ST GRADE: Come in once a week to help our First Graders with simple reading and math activities.
COKE GIVES: Turn in codes on box flaps (where you open the box to access the cans) or bottle caps so we can enter them and earn money for Adams!
Do you, a grandparent, or your high schooler want to help at Adams? Today is a great day to sign up!
“Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless.”
Character Strong - Courage

Muslim Students and Families to Observe Ramadan in March and April
The observance of Ramadan occurs during the ninth month of the islamic calendar by Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. The 2023 observance began on March 22 and is expected to end April 20. Muslims in our schools and around the world will be fasting for 30 days from dawn to sunset, forgoing food and water the entire time of Ramadan.
This information is being shared to ensure staff are aware of the timing and potential impact of fasting on students and/or staff. Muslims may wake up early and stay up late for prayer and nourishment during this time. Please encourage understanding and empathy toward fasting students and keep lines of communication open and supportive of student and family needs.
Fasting students may request or be offered accommodations during Ramadan, including spending lunchtime away from the cafeteria or saving treats from celebrations to bring home.
Ramadan ends with a major Muslim holiday, Eid al-Fitr, or the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” which is expected to be observed on Friday, April 21 and or Saturday, April 22. This is a time of celebration that may include morning activities and a community celebration. Food, games and presents for children are also typically included with the festivities.
Thank you for your understanding and support of fasting Muslim students in our schools during this time.
