Holly Academy News & Views
January 21, 2022
January is, "Board of Education Appreciation Month". We are so grateful to our Board of Directors for their governance! Our Board members volunteer many hours per month to oversee Holly Academy's policies and programs. The continued excellence of HA is in no small measure due to the oversight of our Board. We would love to see more attendance at Board meetings from our families. Board meeting agendas are published in the newsletter the Friday prior to each meeting. A huge "THANK YOU" to:
Dave Cruickshank: President
Diane Kullis: Vice President
Stephen Jenkins: Treasurer
Dylan Adams: Secretary
Amy Hillman: Director

Dress down-support Oxford Feb.3
Holly Academy is honored to participate in a statewide initiative, sponsored by the MHSAA to support Oxford! We will have a dress-down day on Thursday, February 3rd. If students wear an Oxford Strong shirt or blue and yellow, they will be able to dress down! The Oxford Strong shirts come in adult sizes along with youth medium and large. If your Husky does not wear the Oxford Strong shirt and they participate by wearing blue and yellow, please send in $1.00 to be donated for the memorial.
More than 80% of the T-shirts' cost — $16.20 of the $20 — will be donated, according to the MHSAA release. The general public can order T-shirts at supportoxfordstrong.com. Merchandise items include T-shirts, long-sleeve T-shirts, crewneck sweatshirts, and hoodies, with all profits going to Oxford. Individual orders will be charged sales tax and shipping fees.
If you would like to learn more about the statewide initiative, here is the article:
Thank you for your support. Power of the Pack!
With the end of the second marking period last Friday, the new marking period began with NWEA testing, which is now well underway - excellent job to all grade levels who tested this week! Another shout out goes to our proctors: Matt Mison, Pam Bunka, and Tina Craven. Because of their hard work and dedicated commitment, all testing sessions have been conducted with integrity and fidelity, leading to an excellent testing experience for everyone. A kudos to our teachers for providing a comfortable and supportive environment during testing. We will continue this process next week, with the hope of being able to wrap things up. If not, we have the full week of 1/31-2/4 dedicated to make-ups.
REMINDERS:
If you are an 8th-grade parent interested in sending your student to Fenton High School, please continue to watch your emails on Friday. You will see an email, from me, with the most up-to-date Smore newsletter from Fenton. Pay close attention to upcoming deadlines. All other 8th grade parents, I am continuing to gather information on your high school of choice and will be sure to touch base with you when appropriate.
This year’s Spelling Bee is on February 10th. Keep encouraging your students to sign up! We want to see our Huskies shine!
Get lots of rest over the weekend so you are ready to do your NWEA best on Monday, Huskies!

February Breakfast/Lunch Order Information
Holly Academy Families,
The breakfast and lunch order form for February has been completed. All orders must be placed by 10:00am on Tuesday, January 25th. At that time the link to the form will no longer be available.
Due to supply chain issues, menu items are subject to change.
All pizza orders for additional slices that were ordered for January have been reconciled. Emails were sent to families if a balance is owed. If you have a balance due and have not paid this by the time the February orders are due, those students will only be eligible for 1 slice of pizza for the month of February.
Step 1:
Please use the link below to place your breakfast and lunch orders through the end of February. A separate form will need to be completed for each child. If a form is completed for a child more than once, we will use the first submission unless we receive communication from the parent/guardian that the first submission should be voided for their child. Once you submit your form you will receive an email that shows all of your selections. The sender of this email will show as Google Forms. Please check your spam folder.
You must make a selection for every meal. You will have multiple-choice options for each day.

February Breakfast/Lunch Order Form
Step 2:
If you choose additional slices of pizza for your child(ren) you will need to make a separate payment on RevTrak (preferred method of payment) or send a check or money order to the school.
For those families that choose to pay via RevTrak, below is the link to the RevTrak account that we will be using for payments. You must pay for each child separately as these are tracked by homeroom teachers. If you are new to Holly Academy or have not used RevTrak in the past, you will need to follow the steps in RevTrak to create an account. New account set-up will be completed once you choose to checkout. Please do not pay under any other account in RevTrak other than Food Service.
If you are paying via check/money order, you may pay for all students on one check or money order. Please make the check payable to HOLLY ACADEMY, label the envelope as Pizza Lunch and ensure that all student names and homerooms are listed on the memo line of the check or money order or provide a sheet stating this information.
All payments are due by Tuesday, February 1st.
Sample payment amounts for pizza orders (pricing is only for the February dates):
2 slices on Monday/Friday for all applicable days: $7.50
3 slices on Monday/Friday for all applicable days: $15.00
2 slices on Monday only for all applicable days: $4.50

COVID Policy and Procedure for Holly Academy
As you know, the CDC and MDHHS have revised the quarantine guidelines for positive COVID cases and quarantines due to exposure to a positive case. We have decided to align HA's guidelines with the CDC's new guidelines for five-day quarantines. As we have 12 months of data to analyze under the previous protocol, if transmission heightens due to the new guidelines we will revert back to the ten-day quarantine for positive cases and exposures. We do not want to unduly keep our Huskies out of our learning environment, but student safety is paramount. Please read the revised guidelines below.
COVID Positive Cases
● On the 6th day, students may return to school as long as they are symptom-free
● When it is reported a student is positive for COVID, administration will continue contact
tracing and contacting parents of exposed students
● Parents of students who are exposed to a positive COVID case in the classroom will
have the option to quarantine their student
● If the parent chooses to quarantine their student, the student will be required to quarantine for 5 days after the date of the onset of the positive case’s symptoms
COVID Positive Cases in the Home
● Students who have a positive COVID case in the home will be required to quarantine for
5 days after the date of the onset of symptoms
● On the 6th day, students may return to school as long as they are symptom-free
Close contacts of a COVID-19 case do not need to quarantine at home if they:
- Had confirmed COVID-19 within the last 90 days; and/or
- Are up to date on all recommended COVID-19 vaccines for which they are eligible
Thank you for being so diligent with adhering to COVID guidelines. Power of the Pack!
