Principal's Message

Hello Ride Families,

We are super excited to have kids join us on campus next week! There has been a lot of planning to help the transition to in person instruction as well as maintaining remote learning. Your child's teacher will meet with you to give specific classroom procedures.

The teachers at Sally K. Ride will use the One Teacher Model this year, which means each teacher will teach both remote and in person to his/her students. We presented 3 models to teachers to discuss and decide on what model is the best for kids at Ride. Of course these incredible teachers overwhelmingly chose the model they felt was best for our challengers - the One Teacher Model. This way the teachers have their original class lists. They will have smaller in person class sizes. If there are special circumstances where a family must change from in person to online (or visa -versa) , the students will continue with the same teacher for the extent of the school year. We also believe, it is the safest approach for both students and teachers.

Next week on Wednesday, August 26th, we will have our PPCD, PK, KN, and 1st graders come back to school in person. CISD has updated its Roadmap to Reopening to include the requirement for all students to wear Face coverings in the following areas: buses, common areas, rest rooms, café, transitions and when 6' social distancing is not possible. We are asking all PK-,K and 1st grade students to bring/wear masks to school at this time. Please know that we understand some students may not wish to wear a mask. We know it is a process and we will continue to teach our students to wear a mask each day. The teachers will use positive reinforcement and mask breaks to help this be a successful transition.

We have created a document and a video to help give you an idea of what to expect at Ride during arrival, class time, and dismissal :

Please note:

Entering school, lunches, and forgotten items: parents will not be allowed inside the building or in large gathering areas. Send lunches with child in the morning. If a lunch is forgotten, please have child eat cafe lunch that day. All forgotten work or papers may not be dropped off. Please scan or take pic and email to teachers. All papers are turned in and not touched for 72 hours.

Instructional Selection: The option to select Online or In person learning deadline was July 28th. Families are asked to make any changes to their instructional selection at the end of the 9 week grading period. Any extenuating circumstances since that date will need to be discussed and/or approved by the principal, Megan Burnham.

PTO-- Please take a moment to join PTO and purchase school shirts and spirit items. This will be our only format for fundraising this Fall. We really appreciate your support. See below.

Screen your child prior to coming to School

Our parents are valued partners in our Roadmap to Reopening Plan. In addition to wearing cloth face coverings, social distancing, washing hands, and regular cleaning and disinfecting of frequently touched surfaces, an essential element in helping slow the spread of COVID-19 at school is each parent’s commitment to screening their child daily for symptoms. Parents are also asked to keep any student exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 at home and to notify the campus. Attached is a copy of the current screening process which outlines the symptoms. Please review the information and be sure to keep your child at home if he/she is exhibiting any of the symptoms described.

Please note that all campuses are closed to visitors at this time to help stop the spread of COVID-19. If you must visit a campus, we ask that you screen yourself prior to leaving your home. All visitors that come on a campus/facility will be required to use the Access Intercom system or call the front office from their vehicle. Once the reception area identifies the person and their need to be on campus, they will be allowed in the building. All visitors will be required to sign in using the visitor program. Each visitor will be asked the screening questions. If a “yes” response is given to one of the questions, the visitor will be asked to leave the campus immediately.

Parent/teacher conferences, ARDS, 504 meetings etc. will be held virtually or by telephone when possible.

Thank you for helping to keep our school community safe.

Sincerely,

Megan Burnham

Principal

Roadmap to Reopening Conroe ISD

One question recently has been if Enrichment was a required class?

CISD will send out Report Card each 9 weeks. If you receive a grade in a class/subject, then you should participate in that class.

We wear masks at Sally K. Ride!!
