Pleasant Valley Students are Generous Kids!

Our PTA organized a TWOSDAY donation drive for 2/22/22. Students dressed in tutus, ties, or tye dye and brought in donations for the Mountian Lion Backpack Program. These boxes are full of food! Pictured here are our Student Council Officers and Mrs. Weyer's 2nd graders that got in on the fun.

Lots of Learning in Mr. DeGol's Class!

Mr. DeGol's students have been working hard on learning math. Students have spent this year working on multiplying by 2's, 5's, and 10's, math arrays, division, order of operations, telling time, and characteristics of shapes. And don't forget about ELA. They've also been learning suffixes, blended and welded sounds, and working on their fluency and comprehension. Thanks for sharing with us, Mr. DeGol.

PV LIbrary is more than you think!

The Pleasant Valley library is buzzing with students exploring books and engaging in STEM activities. Thanks for the update and pictures, Mrs. Kirsch.

Kindergarten enjoys listening to the The Gingerbread Man series by Laura Murray. First and Second grade has been learning about useful text features in nonfiction books. Third through Fifth grade has been taking a deep dive into the various genres.

Kindergarten and First grade have been coding Bee Bots, exploring Osmo, and engaging in Storytime STEM activities.

Second and Third graders have coded Bee Bots and Ozobots to tackle STEM challenges. We are getting ready to explore Sphero.

Fourth and Fifth grade students learned to code Ozobots and explored SAM LABS to program, design, and create with wireless blocks.

Pleasant Valley Teachers go to school too!

On Friday, February 18, Pleasant Valley's dedicated teachers went to school. Why? Effective teachers continuously improve their practice. Collaborative learning among teachers often yields big dividends as teachers work together to deliver consistent instruction. Among other things, this in-service brought teachers together to learn about Station Rotation, EM4 and First in Math, Comprehension, and Diagnostic Tools for ELA. Many teachers also worked on building cohesive curriculum.

first graders can do anything!!!

First grade celebrated the end of their Reading Workshop unit by becoming experts in nonfiction. Students read to kindergarten students to show off their expertise. Some students even got to read with their siblings. Thanks, Mrs. Berkheimer, for the great pictures!

title 1 parent engagement at logan elementary

All AASD elementary schools were invited to Logan Elementary to participate in February's Parent Engagement Event. Community partners had table after table filled with information for families. Oh! And lots of freebies for all! If you missed this year's, be on the look out for it next year. A special thank you to our district Title 1 teachers for organizing and to Logan for hosting.
