Principal's Message

As we head farther into November I am so proud of the progress our students are making. This is the time of year where we like to step back and let our students shine. We want to see what they can do on their own! If you're supporting a learner at home, we recommend doing the same. As much as possible, we want to let our students try things independently so they can continue to grow and learn. Letting students work without giving help or answers lets us get an accurate picture of what our kids can do, and gives us really important information on what they need. At Ashbrook we try hard to cultivate a Growth Mindset where students know that it is OK to make mistakes.

AUXS Application

We still have a significant number of families that are forgetting to fill out our AUXS application each morning. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in filling out the app and keeping our students, staff, and families safe from COVID-19. If you are having any issues connecting to the application please contact the main office.

Fall Conferences

Our teachers are in the process of setting up our annual fall conferences to update you on your child’s progress. Thus far, we are very happy with how things have gone with our remote and hybrid schedules this year. Instead of live conferences scheduled on certain dates, the teachers will be setting up their own conference dates and times which will happen either through Zoom/Google Meet or on the phone. Your child’s teacher will be in touch to set up a time to meet by mid-December.

If you would like to request a conference with a special area teacher, please contact them through their e-mails below.

PTA Holiday Drive

The Annual PTA Holiday Drive to help our local, less fortunate families began this week. An email with all details was sent out this week, and, for our Hybrid families, your students should be bringing home their adopted child's wish list this week or early next week. All New, Unwrapped Gifts and Clothes as well as Non-Perishable food are due by December 11th. A link to all wish-lists, organized by home room, can be found here: Holiday Drive Wish Lists If you have any questions, please contact Lyndi Cole at or Caitlin Staiano at Thank you so much for your support!

Staff Shout Out

Do you know a staff member who is doing an exceptional job? Please give them a shout out on the Google Form linked below. Your shout out could be featured in our next newsletter!

Traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday?

Please be sure to reach out to our nurse, Mrs. Hummel. Students returning from states on the NJDOH travel advisory list must quarantine for 14 days upon return. We will coordinate getting your child set up in a remote classroom for the length of their quarantine.

Want your child featured in our newsletters?

Make sure you have photo permissions turn on in our Genesis Portal under the 20-21 Technology Start Up Form.
