From The Principal
Monday begins day five of the second grading period, we remind students to be proactive and make the most of each moment in the classroom. Because learning does not solely occur at Collins students must sometimes utilize home time to finish assignments, work on projects, and study for tests. Reading everyday must be a priority in all of our homes. Even if our children tell us they have no homework - they should always read each night.
Parent Access Center is the best way to check on your child's progress, and when needed, create proactive action plans with teachers to keep grades reflecting student effort and ability.

Counselor Update
We are so excited to have welcomed so many virtual learners back to campus this week! We have enjoyed seeing so many new faces, and hope that it has been an easy transition for all.
For all our new in-person learners, your counselors are Ms. Aymond (5th grade) and Mrs. McCure (6th grade). Students can sign up to see their counselor by visiting our Canvas pages and filling out the form at the top of the page.
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is coming up soon! Help us “give drugs the boot” by dressing up on our theme days from October 26th to October 30th!
Guidance Lessons
Next week, the counselors will be visiting classrooms to do guidance lessons on this month’s Colossal Cobra topic-- responsibility. We will visit each homeroom to do a mini-lesson with students. We can’t wait to see everyone!
Friends of Collins
PTO is excited to launch our fundraiser, Friends of Collins!
September 25 thru November 1
This is the only fundraising the PTO will do this fall. We are not asking you to sell anything but only asking families to donate if they are able. We have some fun incentives available whether your student is in person or remote. Our fundraising goals are for each student to have a school Chromebook available to use & for math enrichment programs. You can donate on Membership Toolkit under Store.
Please contact friendsofcollinsintermediate@gmail.com with any questions.
Level 2 & 3 Yard Sign pick up dates (@ Collins-front of school):

Library Update
When an In Person Learner is Absent
Though you will still receive the automated message that your child is absent - the teachers check that a student has meaningfully engaged in virtual learning by 11:59 PM the day of the absence and the following day change the ABS mark to show present as a virtual learner.
Please send an email to your learning community teachers to let them know your child is out and that they are completing work through CANVAS.
This new process allows us the ability to help keep students current when they are sick and unable to come to school. We are thankful to our families for not using this process to take extended weekends or vacations during the school year as an "In Person" learner.
Nurse Kendall Update
Please remember that students cannot bring medication to school, including cough drops. Medications must be brought to school by a parent and a medication permission form needs to be filled out. Because of Covid-19, Tylenol or Advil (ibuprofen) must have a doctor’s order if it is to be administered for headaches.
If your child is sent home from school with symptoms of Covid-19, he/she must stay home for 10 days or see a healthcare provider and get clearance to return to school sooner than 10 days. This is a district policy and is to ensure the health and safety of not only your child, but other students and teachers in our school.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

If my student is a Virtual Learner how do I get their picture taken for the yearbook?
Pictures will be taken in the front of the school. Please enter the front of the school using the drive through. Also, please stay in the car the entire time. When they are ready they will ask your child to exit the vehicle to have their picture taken. Once they exit the vehicle they will be directed to one of two locations. When they are done your child will return to the vehicle and you can exit the drive through.
