Hamilton High School Newsletter

The Official Newsletter for Hamilton High School 6/3/2020

Message from Mr. De La Torre

This being the last newsletter for the 19-20 school year, I would like to thank all of the community, staff, and students that have helped us make it to the finish line. While we have experienced some unprecedented times at the conclusion of the school, the Hamilton community has much to celebrate. Hamilton continues to be Arizona’s most acclaimed high school. I know we have many challenges still to face as we work towards reopening our school for the next school, but please be assured that we will work hard to make the experience at HHS safe, compassionate, inspiring, and enriching for all of our students. Please enjoy the summer break. Go Huskies!

American FFA Degree Recipient

Kara Linder (Class of 2018) has worked very hard to receive this rare honor. Less than 1% of members ever receive their American FFA Degree. She will be only the second member from Hamilton to receive this degree. We currently have over 10,000 members in AZ FFA and only 42 members from across the state are receiving this award at the 93rd National FFA Convention in Indianapolis in October . Kara not only is an outstanding student and athlete she was able to achieve this monumental task. She is currently studying Environmental Sciences at Notre Dame and has received the AAC Fencer of the Year for the second year in a row along with numerous awards. I have every hope of seeing her in the 2024 Olympics. A great example of how academics, CTE and sports can create a well rounded and very successful student.

Congratulations Marketing Students

The Arizona Council on Economic Education (ACEE) and the SIFMA Foundation (Securities Industry Financial Markets Association) has recognized four of Hamilton's Business Students who won first place for the "Spring Stock Market Game Competition" for the Arizona High School Division. The students are Max Bregman, Colter Brown, Alyssa Thielsen and Cristian Valle. This is an amazing accomplishment with the overall US Markets down about 20%. The Stock Market Game ran from February 4, 2020 - April 17, 2020. Students started with $100,000 in their virtual portfolios and this group was able to make a 41.2% rate of return. Amazing! These students were honored by ACEE in a Zoom Celebration on May 20, 2020. For their accomplishments, they receive $150, a Certificate of Recognition for First Place and they will be featured on ACEE's website.
