Lunch Orders for 9/7 and 9/8
Dear Parents or Guardians: There are four new options for lunch this school year in addition to the normal entree, Healthy Food Choice, or PBJ sandwich.
One is a Cold Lunch. This was very popular with our older students but some of the younger ones as well! It is a wrap or a salad...commissary choice...in addition to a milk or any other fruits or veggies a student may want.
The second option will be a Fun Lunch. This was popular with our younger students! It is a yogurt, cheese stick, grain (like Cheese-its or a Fun Loaf), and a fruit or veggie in addition of a milk. The fruit or veggie will be the student's choice (hot and cold) and extra fruit or veggies are always available for anyone at any time.
The third option will be a Hotdog Lunch (available everyday starting on Monday, September 11th) that includes fruit, veggies, snacks (when available), and a milk.
The forth option will be a milk-only choice for those who prefer to bring a lunch. A student can still help themselves to any fruit or veggies if they wish.
A Healthy Food Choice, to review, must include three components. That includes a student's choice of a fruit, veggie, or two of the same, and a milk. A snack is optional but can be included based on availability. This is a great vegetarian option or it can enhance a lunch brought from home. There is never a limit as to how many fruits and/or vegetables a student can take.
Please, lunch time snacks are available to anyone that orders a lunch and are limited to one snack per student per day. Thank you!
All options are free but they do need to be pre-ordered each and every week.

Please note we are provided free lunches from the Buffalo Public Schools Commissary through a federally assisted lunch program. Occasionally, because of supply issues, BPSC reserves the right to change any menu item without warning but please accept our apologies. We too are surprised at times. We'll do our best to get any menu changes to you asap.
Thanks,
Nancy Braunscheidel & Pat Quinn
curriculum and class offerings
As a faculty we took into consideration the NYS Learning Standards that have been updated, teacher and student comfort with the curriculum we were implementing, and “user friendliness” for students, teachers, parents, and tutors. With this in mind, we have made some changes and improvements to our curriculum this year.
Included in the Curriculum and Class Offerings document is also an explanation of advanced classes that are offered in grades 6-8 this year.

Sports Participation Sign Ups
JUST KEEP SWIMMING...SMS SWIM TEAM-ING
Sign up now for swim team in the fall. Swimmers in Kindergarten through 8th grade are eligible to participate.
KEEP YOUR STUDENTS LOOKING SHARP FOR LESS
Gently-used uniforms will be available for about another week, so be sure to stop by the table outside the school office - even if only to supplement your polo supply for those days when the laundry just doesn't happen!
JOIN US ON THE PLAYGROUND MONDAY NIGHT AT 6:30 PM
Enjoy a popsicle and some fun on the playground with your school friends (old and new!) and Mrs. D’Angelo before heading back to class for the year. If you are new to SMS this is a great time to get to know other students and parents!
BLESSING OF BACKPACKS AT ALL LABOR DAY WEEKEND MASSES
Have your students bring their backpacks to Mass with them on Sat. Sept. 2nd at 4 pm, or Sun. Sept. 3rd at 7:30 am, 9 am or 11 am (note the new weekend Mass times) for a special back-to-school blessing. All students of any age, and from any school are welcome to attend and receive the blessing! Students will also be invited to take a blessed pencil home with them as a reminder that GOD is always with you. Let’s make this a great school year!
THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS WEDS. SEPT. 6TH!
