Wm. Adams Middle School
Faculty and Staff Newsletter • March 6, 2017
Afternoon Duty This Week:
Teachers in odd numbered classrooms will be inside the building and teachers with even numbered classrooms will be outside the building.
Please spread out so that students see you and you see them. There have been many rumors of fights and you know that we send out emails to everyone when we hear them. The latest rumor involves a large-scale fight. Please keep your eyes and ears open and alert us of anything you see or hear so that we can be proactive.
THANK YOU!
Winner, Winner!
Send me your photos for a chance to win!
STAAR Motivation
Maybe one wing wants to go with a STAAR Wars theme, and another with a minion theme. Maybe you each want to do something different and not related to any theme. Be creative! Prizes will be awarded to the best door in 7th grade and the best door in 8th grade.
(As per our District Testing Coordinator, Laurie Lerma, as long as there is nothing related to tested content, the decorations can stay up during testing).
Career Fair and CTE Visit Next Week
On Friday, Marcy 10 we will host a career fair. We have several CTE groups from the high school who will be represented as well as local and area businesses. Be watching and listening for additional information.
Some Clarification May be Needed
These mini-assessments, what we are calling "Progress Monitoring" do not have to be recorded in the grade book. These can be as short as 3-5 questions, or longer if you wish. These answer documents should be created in Eduphoria, and the reason for this is very simple: Quick results for analysis purposes.
After your answer documents have been scored, you can then go into Eduphoria and see the results. There are many options for the way your results can be delivered in Eduphoria. The results I have asked you to pull are by student and SE(s). It should look very much, if not exactly like the first image below.
Once printed, take a highlighter and highlight each SE score that has not been mastered. The reason for doing this by hand is that I want you to remember the student attached to the score.
Next you run a quintile report. Again, this is done in Eduphoria with a few mouse clicks.
Finally, you complete the "Tutorial and/or Small Group Plan" to indicate how you will spiral in those non-mastered SEs.
I understand that it may seem like I am asking too much. I understand that you have a life outside of school, as do I. But we must remember our responsibility to our students.
I am being asked for evidence that we are doing what we say we are doing. This is that evidence.
If you do not feel that these reports are giving you the information you need to target interventions for students, and you have a suggestion for an alternative method, please come visit with me. I am open to any and all suggestions. I know these are perhaps the most stressful times for us all. Remember your marigolds. Together we can show everyone in the district and the community what we already know: Wm. Adams Middle School teachers are helping students to grow, be successful, and be prepared for the next school year. "Paddles In!"

Student Failures
Encourage your students to attend after school tutorials. Remind students that if they are bus riders, we have a bus available to take them home. Is there an incentive you can provide? If you have a suggestion, please share it.
Bugs, and Viruses, and Illness, Oh My!
Our custodial staff has been busy cleaning and disinfecting but it takes us all lending a hand where we can.
Thank you!
