PBIS
Our character power word for October is COOPERATION! This past week, all classrooms had the opportunity to buddy up with another classroom to participate in partner activities with a COOPERATION theme. We are proud to use these moments as our North Star Husky students practice implementing this powerful trait!
Please take a minute to talk with your child about ways to cooperate at school, as well as at home!
NPTO
- Our Saver’s Fundraiser raised over $550! Thank you for helping make it so successful!
- Get involved with Just ONE Thing! Find out what’s happening in the PTO through our Remind app: Send a Text to 81010 with this message: @a8h3dk6. You’ll get occasional texts and ways to get involved with Just ONE Thing!
- The Scholastic book fair will be the week of Nov 7th-11th. Your children will be able to look at the books and make a wish list in LMC during the week. We will hold the family night for the book fair on Thursday November, 10th from 3:45-6:00pm in the LMC at North Elementary. This is a great opportunity to purchase books for holiday gifts.
- We are looking for volunteers to help with setting up the book fair, cashier and re-stocking positions during the parent night. Please sign up on this link HERE. In addition, visit our book fair homepage! This homepage provides a link to the online book fair if you are not able to attend the book fair. Online you can purchase books before, during, and up to two weeks after the book fair.
Save the Date: Parent/Teacher Conferences

Halloween
Here are the costume guidelines:
- Students may wear their costumes while learning
- It is important that our students be able to walk, sit, see and hear
- Masks that cover the entire face may only be worn during the parade (please no "scary" masks for school)
- Please refrain from any fake weapons or props, scary masks, and/or inappropriate costumes that may cause fear for children
- We are also asking that students not wear fake blood, and/or make-up that may be a distraction
Halloween Parade:
- When: Monday, Oct. 31st from 2:00-2:30 pm
- Please feel free to join us in front of the school on the sidewalk (*if it is raining, it will be canceled). Classroom Volunteers will need to complete our volunteer procedure on the D47 website. We appreciate your cooperation in making this day fun and safe for our students!

Help-A-Husky at North
The holiday season is approaching and we are starting to collect donations in support of our North families in need. As always, we will be accepting gift card donations, which in the past have included gift cards for gas stations, grocery stores, big-box stores, restaurants, online retailers, and home improvement stores. All gift card donations should be dropped off in the main office. If you are interested in adopting a family in need this holiday season or donating items other than gift cards, please contact our social workers, Amanda Wood (awood@d47.org) or Valerie Andrews (vandrews@d47.org) for more information. No matter the donation, we are appreciative of the support for our North Community. Have an awesome holiday season, thank you! (Donations of gift cards, food, etc., are accepted throughout the school year)
Community Harvest Food Drive
District 47 is proud to support the Crystal Lake Food Pantry and looks forward to participating in the annual Community Harvest Food Drive from October 15-November 18. Donations will be accepted in our school foyer. Monetary donations are also appreciated; checks can be made payable to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry. We appreciate any and all donations and are excited to be involved in this annual tradition and important community event!
