Flood control measures that were in place

Their was nothing in place to prevent flooding, hurricane sandy caught people by surprise.

How long did it take water to recede?

It took water close to a year to recede in some locations, and is still some recovery going on today.


  • Hurricane Sandy caused close to $62 billion in damage in the United States, and atleast $315 million in the Carribean.
  • New York was the most severely impacted due to damage to subways and roadway tunnels.
  • Over 7.5 million people were without power.
