What Went on in C4 This Week?

Week of October 14, 2015

This Week's Activities

STEM Unit: What an exciting week! We built our catapults! Wait till you see the the unique designs that the kids created! Next week we will share and launch our catapults. There are 2 ways that the catapults will be evaluated.

1. The design of the catapult; how it stores potential energy, sturdiness, creativity of the design.

2. How far can it launch a projectile. (marshmallows)

I am hoping to upload video of the launches next week!

Creative Problem Solving: We had to skip creative problem solving this week to have time for building our catapults.

Sagia: We finished all of our Government presentations in both 5th and 6th grade this week! Be sure to ask you student about their project. Some of them will have the ability to show you their presentation if they used an online tool to create it. The main question that I wanted students to answer in their presentation was, "Will this style of government be good or bad for the citizens of your country and why?"

The 3rd and 4th grade students are still working on creating 2 plants and 2 animals that live in their country. As they are creating these things, they must think about the location of their country in relation to the equator, what kinds of food and habitats need to exist for their animals in order to survive, and other interesting and original information that will help an audience learn about their plants and animals. We are also, scanning our original drawings and using them in a presentation.

C4 Parent Night

I would like to thank everyone who was able to attend Tuesday night's parent meeting! I know that everyone is busy, and it is impossible to find a night where everyone can come. If you were not able to attend, please take a minute to look at the presentation that I attached to this newsletter. Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

I will be at the Middle School next Thursday for Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences. You are welcome to come by and see me! I will be doing a short presentation on Standards Based Learning at the 6:30 in the library, if you are interested.
