Principal's Message

It's hard to believe that we already have a month of school under our belt. The leaves are starting to change and our learners have settled into the activities at CHES. Our facilitators have started to form positive relationships with your children. It is such a pleasure to have learners in the building to be able to learn face to face and make memories together.

We are all aware of the disruptions to learning that occurred over the last year and a half. Our goal over the next year as educators is to be sure that we are meeting your child at their current academic level and building from there. In order to do that, we will be adjusting our lessons to meet each learner's needs.

At the beginning of the year, I was able to meet with each grade level and discuss the idea of growth mindset. We need our leaners to know that we all learn at different paces and in different ways. By nature, the learning process is meant to be challenging at times when new material and information is being presented. We want our learners to be able to persist through the challenging times, reach out for assistance when needed, and give us their best effort! We watched some short videos about a little monster name Mojo. He had some great lessons to share. I have included the links to these videos if you would like to view them with your children.

Sapphire Student Information System

All parents who have learners in grades 1-5 have log in credentials for our Sapphire System. This system allows parents to log in and view their children's most up-to-date grades. You will need your child's user name, password, and pin to view your child's grades.

We are now at the mid- point of the first marking period. I would encourage all parents to log in to see the progress that your child is making. If you have any questions about your child's progress, please contact your child's facilitator.

If you need assistance with your child's log in information, please call the elementary office.

Rett Syndrome Awareness Day

October is Rett’s Syndrome Awareness Month. Rett Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that occurs in 1 out of 10,000 female births worldwide. It leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of the child’s life: their ability to speak, walk, eat, and even breathe easily. There is no cure for Rett Syndrome, but quality of life can be improved through proper medications and therapies. We are asking everyone to wear purple on October 13th to help support Kayleigh and other children affected by this disease. Together, we can show Kayleigh our support so she knows she is not alone in this fight against Rett Syndrome!

Notes to Facilitators

In an effort to keep the instructional time protected for all learners, we would remind you to please send a note to the facilitator whenever possible, when your child needs to be picked up at school early (before 2:30) or at dismissal time, unless of course we have already been made aware that they are picked up on a regular basis. We really do teach until the end of the day and if we need to advise your child’s teacher of a last-minute change in plans, it causes a disruption to the learning process. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Recess Outside

Please remember that all classes will be going outside everyday when it is not raining and above 32 degrees. Please send your children to school dressed for the weather each day.

All Kids Bike

Thanks to the generosity of our amazing community and Ms. Wharton, we were able to raise the $5000 necessary to partner with All Kids Bike! Our Kindergarten and first grade learners will be able to utilize balance bicycles in the spring during their Physical Education class! We can't wait to show you pictures of our leaners zipping around our gym and blacktop on their bikes.

A Message for all 4th and 5th Grade Band Members from Mrs. Kemerer

- Please check SeeSaw for assignments and schedules.

- Learners should remember to come to their lessons on their own.

- 5th grade band students need to bring their instruments to both their lesson and their music special.

- All band students should have a practice journal in their music folder that they should work on throughout the week. 4th grade will start receiving practice journals on October 1.

- Any new students that want to join can find more information here: https://mrskemerer.weebly.com/4th--5th-grade-band.html
