Happy Friday everyone! This week, as you know, I sent out a communication regarding our upcoming RHK8 additions and renovations; I’ve included here in our Newsletter as well. Here’s this week’s news.
Future Construction at RHK8
Our school is scheduled for significant improvements thanks to the generous support from Beaverton voters who approved bond funds in May 2014. Here is an overview.
When: Construction will begin in June 2019 with a phased approach due to site constraints and the need for our school to be fully operational while construction is taking place. The phased construction will include several classroom additions, separate bus and vehicle loops, Scholls Ferry Road improvements, and choir/band and stage additions. Further development of the design and planning is underway.
What: The overall project scope calls for the portable classrooms to be removed.
● The expansion includes general classrooms, appropriate grade level 6-8 science lab classrooms, a choir/band classroom and an expanded stage which will double as an additional music classroom.
● The cafeteria/multipurpose area will be expanded.
● Purchase new cafeteria/multipurpose seating.
● Learning and support areas will be upgraded with integrated technology systems.
● Parking and vehicle access will be improved to separate bus and automobiles.
While construction will affect everyone, when the building addition is constructed, our 6-8 grade students will be relocated to a school in the Timberland area of Cedar Mill for 2019-2020. This ‘swing school’ has been home for other students while school construction projects were completed such as Vose and Hazeldale elementaries. It most recently housed 6-8 graders from Springville K-8 to relieve enrollment growth at the school until Sato Elementary School was built.
As plans are developed, our BSD Facilities Team will hold community meetings to present information about the improvement and how we will be operating during construction. We know you will share our excitement as we look to the future improvements to our wonderful school. Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement.
RHS Middle School Dance Jan 26th 7:00-9:00
Our annual middle school winter dance is approaching quickly and this is a super-fun event for our middle schoolers. We hope that everyone can attend! Here are a few expectations to ensure a seamless evening:
● The cost is 5.00 per student to be paid at the cafeteria entrance.
● This event is open to ONLY Raleigh Hills 6th, 7th & 8th students. No visitors or will be allowed entry.
● The dance will be in the cafeteria all other parts of the school will be closed.
● Students will not be allowed outside unless a parent is picking up.
● There will be several parent chaperones, and being respectful to them is a must, thank you in advance.
● Parents who have not signed up to chaperone are welcome to drop in and take a peek.
● A friendly reminder that our supervising staff cannot go home until the last student has been picked-up. Please plan accordingly to pick up as close to 9:00 as possible.
We’re looking forward to a fun evening of dancing, friendship, and FUN!!!!
Immunization Exclusion Day
Some families have been receiving letters from the school and the district about required immunization for your child. This week we reported to Washington County and children without proper immunizations will get a letter from the county. Please note that Exclusion Day is February 21, 2018. Your child will not be allowed to attend school after that day without the school having the proper paperwork for immunizations. The Beaverton Immunization Clinic will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018. Click here for more information.
Report Cards
Did you know you can go paperless for report cards?
