Welcome To The 2021/2022 School Year at Lotus School for Excellence. Thank you to each of you parents/guardians that were able to attend registration week. Hopefully, you were able to have many questions answered regarding the registration process. Our goal is to make the registration process as efficient and convenient as possible heading into this school year.

If you were not able to attend registration at Lotus, you are still able to complete this process by calling to make an appointment with the Secondary office or by dropping in between the hours of 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Our office is available by calling 303-360-0052, ext. 100 or 101. Please leave a message as all messages are checked daily and returned within the next business day.

Pickup and Drop Off Information

We are looking forward to welcoming students back to school on August 11th and we are looking forward to a safe start to the school year but we need your help. Please review the School Day Traffic Flow Base Map for Parents/Guardians to be prepared to drop off and pickup your student the first day of school.

Student Schedules

Students will be able to access their schedules on Infinite Campus as of August 6th. If your student is having difficulty accessing his/her schedule, a copy will be provided during the first period on August 11th.

Important Health/Safety Updates for the 2021-2022 School Year!

All students are required to wear a mask or face covering throughout the day. Students will be able to remove their mask when outside and while eating lunch. If students have medical conditions that prevent them from wearing a mask properly or are unable to wear a mask due to their disability, please contact the school nurse for an accommodation. Ext, 228 or

All families must complete a Home Assessment for each student who is attending in-person learning every day before school. Do not send your student to school if any of the following are found during your student’s daily self assessment.

  • Symptom check

    • Cough

    • Sore throat

    • Shortness of breath

    • Chills

    • Fatigue

    • Muscle or body aches

    • Headache

    • Loss of taste or smell

    • Nausea or vomiting

    • Diarrhea

    • Nasal congestion if any of the above symptoms are included

If your student has any of the above symptoms, do not send them to school and contact your medical care provider for further advice. In addition, please notify school staff at 303-360-0052 x300 (attendance line) that you are keeping your child home and what symptoms your child is experiencing.

During the school day, students will be encouraged to wash their hands frequently. Please practice proper hand washing at home by encouraging your children to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. In addition, we will have hand sanitizer regularly available for students.

Lastly, all students will have a temperature screening as they enter the building and school staff will be checking for symptoms. If your student has COVID-19 symptoms, they will be referred to the school's health professional (school nurse or health paraprofessional) for further assessment. The health professional will determine appropriate next steps. Please ensure that you have plans in place for you or a designated guardian to quickly pick up your student during the school day if needed.

Locker Information

All 6th-12th grade students will be assigned lockers and accompanying combination locks on their first day of school. Personal locks may not be used.

If your student is new to combination locks, you can view this helpful video with him/her.

6th Graders will all have lockers on the 1st floor near the student entrance nearest the Secondary gym.

7th Graders will have lockers on the 2nd floor in the hallway with the elevator.

8th Graders lockers are located on the 2nd floor in the hallway between the elevator hallway and the hallway near Secondary administration offices.

9th Graders lockers are located on the 2nd floor just above the stairwell down to the Secondary gym.

10th Graders lockers are on the 2nd floor in the new science wing.

11th Graders lockers are also on the 2nd floor in the new science wing.

12th Graders lockers are located on the first floor in the new science wing.

There will be signs on the first day of school to assist students to find their lockers. Here are the codes that will be posted.

Athletic Announcements

Welcome back Meteors! We are so excited to have FULL athletics back. After school sports are now open to all incoming 5th through 12th graders. Especially after a year and a half of virtual learning we encourage all students to find a sport or after school activity they are interested in. Our first season of sports is just about to start!

High School fall sports will start on the first day of school, August 11th while Middle School fall sports will start after August 18th.

If your student is interested in participating, they will need to have a current physical. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TRY OUT WITHOUT A CURRENT PHYSICAL.

Attendance Matters!

The Attendance Committee is SO excited to have your student(s) back for in person learning and we are here to support your student(s) transition back into the classroom. Please read our letter from the Attendance Committee here.

Each month, the Attendance Committee will sponsor an attendance challenge aimed to improve individual and school wide attendance. August 16th - 20th

For our first full week of school back, students will receive an awesome prize each day that they are ON TIME to 1st period class! On time means in the classroom by 8:00 am

Parents and Guardians please support our challenge by helping your student arrive to campus before 8:00 am and with plenty of time to get to 1st period - we are all in this together!

LOTUS School for Excellence


Lotus first opened its doors in August 2006 with a total of 147 students in grades 6 and 7. Each year after that, its enrollment increased gradually to finally reach over 900 students, with grades spanning from Kindergarten to 12th. In such a diverse and disadvantaged community, for over a decade, Lotus has managed to instill interest in students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Today it is one of the most successful schools in Aurora.
