President’s Corner By Amanda Ball
We want to thank everyone that participated in our membership drive to move your classes
toward the goal of 100% participation and most importantly supporting our Copeland Colts.
We are proud to announce the 3rd grade class has won lollipops. Awesome job! They had the highest-grade level PTO member participation at the deadline. Congratulations Ms. Maywald, Ms. Pitts, Ms. Basham, Ms. Drisdale, Ms. Wheeler, Ms. Flora & Ms. Reeder! Your classes had the highest membership at the deadline and won each of you a $25 Amazon gift card!
The PTO drive has ended, but you can still join the PTO and help contribute to our Copeland Colts. If you would like to join PTO or to see what all the PTO supports, please go to CopelandPTO.org.
We are almost done with our Raise Craze fundraiser. The last day to log AOKs & receive
donations will be October 21st . Let’s do a big push to support our colts and show our kindness! It’s not too late to register and get started. Simply visit my.raisecraze.com/A61W3HM. We appreciate your support of Copeland and Copeland PTO. We could not do all of the wonderful things the PTO does without your help and generosity.
If anyone has any comments, suggestions or questions about Copeland PTO or volunteering at the school, please feel free to contact anyone on the PTO Executive Board. We all look forward to working with you and I am looking forward to a great school year at Copeland.
Thanks,
Amanda
Raise Craze Fundraiser
Our Raise Craze fundraiser will be ending on Wednesday, October 21st! Every student can participate in Raise Craze by completing Acts of Kindness (AOK) so we’re aiming for 100% participation. As of today we have 80 Colts registered and they have completed 125 AOKs! The most popular AOK has been donating gently used clothes, books or toys. Way to go! Our Colts have raised $6,022 of our $25,000 goal.
There is still time to reach our goals and I know our colts can make it! If you haven’t registered please go to my.raisecraze.com/A61W3HM to get started. We are excited to see all of the ways our students choose to serve others!

Are you interested in serving as a Homeroom Coordinator for your child's class? We are still in need of a Homeroom Coordinator for the following classes:
K - Alanis
K - Lopez
3rd - Hickman
5th - Black
The role of the Homeroom Coordinator will be to create sign ups where needed and communicate to the class parents on any upcoming events such as teacher birthdays, holiday parties, teacher appreciation, and any other events that we are permitted to have this year as they arise. The HRC can be a parent of a CFISD Connect or Face to Face student. If you are interested in serving as the Homeroom Coordinator for your child's class, or have any questions pertaining to the role of HRC, please send an email with your contact information and your child's teacher to Deepa Ozarkar, Copeland VIPS Coordinator, at copelandptovips@gmail.com
Positions Needing to be Filled:
Fundraising Chair - Chairman is on the Executive Board and investigates options for major and minor fundraisers, coordinates & oversees all fundraising activities.
5th Grade Memory Book – (a 5th grade parent is requested) Chairman organizes this special "through the years" book for our 5th graders. They talk about their favorite memories at Copeland, favorite teachers, and we get to see their Elementary career in pictures from Kinder through 5th grade. We need someone to help organize this.
Gardening Chair - Chairman works with the master gardener on garden days with our 3rd grade classes to grow and take care of the garden at the front of the school.
Congrats Laurie Alexander, our Volunteer of the Month
Who will it be next month??? Log your hours now. If you need to know how, see the bottom of this newsletter for step by step directions on how to use Raptor, our volunteer hour recording system for Cy-Fair ISD.

Spirit Gear By Amanda Ball
Thank you for being patient if you had to wait for your spirit gear to be ordered. I ordered this week and will deliver or email to have it picked up as soon as it arrives. Check out the new Copeland Colts water bottle! Please visit our website, CopelandPTO.org (click Fundraising from menu, then Spirit Wear) to see the selection and place your order. We also have hoodies, caps, tumblers and vintage spirit shirts! If you have any questions please email Amanda at CopelandSpiritWear@gmail.com.
The Garden
The 3rd grade classes have the garden looking great! They have planted cauliflower, broccoli & kohlrabi (alien looking cabbage) plants and have also planted radish, kale & beet seeds. The garden is getting plenty of water to help them grow and the 3rd graders can’t wait to harvest and try the vegetables. Remember on garden days to have your 3rd grader wear the appropriate clothes. Upcoming garden days are 10/22, 11/5 & 11/19. The kids are having fun learning how to plant and take care of their garden.
We are in need of a garden chairman, if you are interested or have any questions please contact Amanda at copelandptopresident@gmail.com. You can also contact her if you would be interested in helping water the garden.
Birthday Marquee
Support your Copeland PTO and wish your Copeland Colt a HAPPY BIRTHDAY by featuring them on the Copeland Elementary Marquee the week of their birthday.
It's Simple and Easy...
- Choose the week you want to feature your Copeland Colt
- Complete the Birthday Marquee Form on CopelandPTO.org
- Submit the $20 Birthday Marquee Fee
- Watch the look on their face when they see their name
Due to district policy we will only put their first name and last letter of their last name.
Spots are limited to 5 listings per week. You must submit the form and payment by noon on the Friday prior to the week selected. So sign up your Copeland Colt TODAY!
Does your student have a summer birthday or is the week of their birthday already filled up? You can choose any week that is still available.
Due to processing, payments must be made online or by cash to guarantee your spot on the birthday marquee. If you are paying by cash; complete this online form, choose the "pay later" option then submit the payment within two business days to the school, either to the front office or send it in with your student.
Logging in as a Volunteer
Working for our kids as a volunteer is both rewarding and important. Please log your volunteer hours in our Raptor Portal.
CFISD has provided an online program to make it easier on volunteers to log and track their
volunteer hours. This program is called Raptor, which is part of the V-Soft security software
that helps keep our schools safe.
Copeland does not have logbooks in the front office to record your hours. So, in order to
log your hours, you will need to establish a raptor account. This is quite easy and will allow
you to log your hours at home.
The steps to register online are as follows:
1. Go to https://www.cfisd.net/en/community-involvement/community-engagement/volunteer/# or click on the "New to Raptor" button below.
2. Complete this form in its entirety and submit (you must have an email address to do this)
3. You will receive an email from support@raptorware.com with your account information and password.
4. Once you receive the email use the button below to log in to your account.
5. Add this website to your favorites (this is where you will log hours)
6. Log in with email and password
7. Select campus
8. Select the tabs you will need
This program will be used to determine volunteer of the month and reporting our total volunteer hours to the district, enabling them to apply for various grants and programs.
FREE MONEY for Your Kids!!!!
Link your Kroger Rewards card to Copeland Elem at www.KrogerCommunityRewards.com.
Are you a big Amazon shopper? Start using Smile.Amazon.com or turn it on in your app settings and select Copeland Elementary as your charity.
BoxTops went digital. Just scan your receipts on their app from any store and they give a donation to Copeland Elem. There are a few products that you can still clip the BoxTops for. Send these to the school and they can feed the shark in the front office!
Does the company you, or your spouse, work for match donations or pay for hours you volunteer at Copeland Elem? These companies do: Shell, BP & Microsoft. If you don’t know if your company does, please ask your HR Dept.
