Robinson Middle Weekly Update

Week of October 3, 2022

Current Events

Hello Robinson Families,

We are hosting our first school dance for sy 22-23. Grades 5/6 will have the fall themed dance on October 19, from 2:10-4:00. Grades 7/8 will have their fall themed dance on October 26, from 2:10- 4:00. Permission slips were sent home. They need to be returned, with $2 by October 18 for students to attend. Snacks will be available for sale at the dances. Please note, that if students are not picked up by 4:00, they will not be permitted to attend another dance at Robinson for sy 22-23. Thank you to our staff for donating their time to supervise the dance.

We are holding grade level assemblies next week with all students. We will be reinforcing expectations around harassment, bullying and language. We will also share with students where they can find the bullying reporting form. Please reinforce with your student that we have a zero tolerance approach to all harassing language.

We will practice with a virtual options based drill on October 3, at 9:00am. Students have been prepared ahead of time, so it is not a surprise. The scenario will be shared over the loud speaker and each classroom work to determine their next steps together. This provides time for students to familiarize with the process of the options based drill in a virtual, practice scenario based format. We will be having an actual options based drill on November 3. This will also be announced.

Our next site council meeting will be on Tuesday, October 11. The link is attached below. All meeting dates are currently on the website and our agendas are posted by the day before each meeting.

Lowell Public Schools has prohibited use of cell phones in school. They are considered disruptive to the educational process in Lowell Public Schools and are not allowed in school. We have had an increases in student use of cell phones in school. We will be assigning detentions and then progressive disciplinary procedures for students using cell phones in school. In addition to the disruption to learning, there have been incidents of theft of cell phones at the school. We do not advise having them in school.

Thank you to all families for your cooperation and patience with dismissal. By rerouting the cars/riders to the June St. parking lot, buses have clear access, students can more safely move about campus when dismissed and everyone is able to get out quickly after picking up students. We will continue to dismiss with this process. If you are dropping your student off or picking them up, please drive slowly and carefully while in the school complex.

Thank you all again for supporting a productive, successful week at Robinson.

Have a safe and happy weekend.
