Robinson Middle Weekly Update

Week of September 25, 2023

Current Events

Hello Robinson Families,

Ms. Giavroutas will be facilitating our after school program this year. She is sending out communication this week. Registration closes September 29, 2023. The program will begin October 16. It will run from 2:10-4:10. Only students who register may attend.

Bathroom Policy- each class has two structured breaks a day, one morning and one afternoon. Students are allowed to go freely at lunch and recess. In addition to this, students can complete a google form for any emergency.

We are beginning our bathroom data analysis, we started having meetings with children who have gone, in addition to the 3 breaks a day, 8 or more additional times. Our goal is to keep students engaged in class and are not missing instruction.

Our first PTO will be held on Tuesday, October 3, at 2:30pm. I am sharing a link for a google form which will help us understand and better accommodate scheduling needs for our families to attend and be a part of our PTO here:

Please reach out to Lira Demoraes, our parent liaison, with any questions.

North Reading Transportation has had some problems sending buses with bus drivers on time to Robinson dismissal. When this happens, we send a blackboard connect to all students on the impacted bus. In order to assure that families receive all information from the school, please be sure that contact information is updated on all forms sent home from the school.

I am sharing flyers from the Lowell Police Department below regarding their boxing program, which our students have traditionally enjoyed as well as for their event on JFK plaza scheduled for next week.

Here is a link to the cross country schedule for 23-24. Please reach out to our coaches, Mr. Lopez and Ms. Richards with any questions. ;

We will host our next site council meeting of the school year on Tuesday, October 10. The meeting will be virtual, starting at 6:00pm. The zoom link is on the agenda on the website, as well as shared here. All are welcome to attend.

Attendance is important for all students. If you child has an appointment, please send them for a period of time and dismiss them as needed.

We will be holding grade level assemblies with all students. We will reinforce expectations around harassment, bullying and language. We will also share with students where they can find the bullying reporting form. Please reinforce with your student that we have a zero tolerance approach to all harassing language.

Lowell Public Schools has prohibited use of cell phones in school. They are considered disruptive to the educational process in Lowell Public Schools and are not allowed in school. If we see a cell phone out of a students' bag, we will hold the cell phone for the day. We will be assigning detentions and then progressive disciplinary procedures for students using cell phones in school. In addition to the disruption to learning, there have been incidents of theft of cell phones at the school. We do not advise having them in school.

Thank you to all families for your cooperation and patience with dismissal. By rerouting the cars/riders to the June St. parking lot, buses have clear access, students can more safely move about campus when dismissed and everyone is able to get out quickly after picking up students. We will continue to dismiss with this process. If you are dropping your student off or picking them up, please drive slowly and carefully while in the school complex.

Thank you all again for supporting a productive, successful week at Robinson Middle School.

Have a safe and happy weekend.
