Student-lead walk on Wintergreen Brook

Join neighbors and Common Ground students as we explore the potential route of a new walking trail along New Haven’s Wintergreen Brook!

Wintergreen Brook Walk

Saturday, April 2nd, 10am-12pm

358 Springside Avenue

New Haven, CT

Learn about efforts to improve water quality, public access, and habitat along the Brook and across the West River Watershed. Along the walk, expect to encounter thorny plants, illegally dumped garbage (which we will clean up -- we will provide garbage bags), and steep slopes. This walk is appropriate for young people & adults ages 13 and up. Meet at Common Ground’s parking lot, and bring snacks and water. Co-Sponsored by Common Ground’s West River Stewards, the New Haven Bioregional Group, and the West River Watershed Coalition.

Agenda

  • Meet at Common Ground High Schools Parking lot.
  • Start walk across the street of Common Ground.
  • Hike and discuss about the new trail that will be created.
  • Pick up trash along the way.
  • Students will talk about their experience and what they have been working on in West River Stewards.
