Time to start thinking about Carnival!
This year’s Super Carnival will be on
Friday, January 25, 2019 from 5:30-9pm!
It’s an amazing event for all and a very important fundraiser for our school!
A lot of information will be coming home or will be posted in the Newsletter/Website over the next few weeks so please be on the lookout! We are not be able to do this without our amazing parent volunteers, sponsors, and generous donors!
In this week’s S’more and Thursday folders you will find information on being a Family Silent Auction Sponsor or Donor (this area is typically geared towards parents and also large ticket kids items). If you or someone you know own a business and would like to sponsor or donate a separate form can be found for Business Sponsorships and Donations on the Website or by contacting our Silent Auction chairs at montelemcarnival@gmail.com.
Another way you can contribute is by to donating items for our basket raffle. These are fun filled baskets specifically designed for the kids! Please consider donating an item or two! Once again without your generous donations this would not be possible!
Coming soon will be more information on how to sign up to volunteer for carnival, purchase tickets, and Kindergarten Cake Walk and Bake Sale donations!

Our next General Meeting is
Wednesday, January 16th at 9:30am!
I’m very excited that Bill Fritz, Director of Technology for the district, has agreed to speak at our next general meeting about kids, the internet, and what parents can do to keep them safe.
Please follow our private Facebook group, “Montgomery Elementary PTO” to learn about upcoming events and see photos of your children having fun experiences at school.
The PTO would not be able to do what we do without our amazing volunteers, parents, teachers, and staff. If you would please take a moment to fill out the Montgomery Elementary PTO Questionnaire we would greatly appreciate your feedback.
Have questions before then please contact me, Kristy Felss, at mtpto@sycamoreschools.org.

LAST CALL!
Auditions December 12th!
2019 SPRING MUSICAL
WHAT:
The Montgomery Elementary PTO is excited to announce the 2019 Spring Musical as Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids. Theatre is a great way for kids to improve communication skills and gain confidence, while enjoying a team building school activity with their peers.
WHO:
Students in Grades 3 & 4 are invited to audition. Everyone who auditions will get a part.
WHEN:
Auditions will be held at Montgomery Elementary on Wednesday, December 12. Three performances will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019, at Montgomery Elementary; one for the school during the day and two evening performances. Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays after school in the beginning Wednesday, January 9, 2019.
HOW TO AUDITION:

WHAT TO PREPARE:
A short segment (up to 30 seconds in length) of any song to be sung without accompaniment. You will also be asked to read a short monologue from the script, which can be found at performingartsinc.net/Montgomery/. Click on Monologues in the top right corner. This doesn’t need to be memorized. We will provide a copy to the child when they come into their audition.
OTHER DETAILS:

GIFT WRAPPING EXTRAVAGANZA
Please join our Staff Appreciation Committee on Tuesday, December 18th from 1:30pm-3:45pm!
It’s a very hectic time of year and we want to help our teachers out! Come and help wrap their gifts for their loved ones! Bring your own scissors and we provide the rest. Many teachers are taking advantage of this great service so as many volunteers as possible are needed. Come for a little or stay the whole time! Whatever you can do is much appreciated! Please come to the cafeteria and have a great time wrapping presents! Please use the SignUpGenius link below to help give the committee a better idea of how many are able to help out!
LOST AND FOUND - ATTENTION PARENTS
During Winter Break, any unclaimed Lost and Found items will be donated to a Charity through our Make a Difference Committee. If you are missing any hats, gloves, lunchboxes, etc., please make sure you or your child checks the Lost and Found soon! The Lost and Found is located near the entrance to the gym (at the foot of the stairs leading to the stage).
There are quite a lot of things piled up, so you never know what you may find!
MARKER RECYCLING SUCCESS
The Montgomery homerooms collected an impressive 1,110 markers for recycling during the month of November! The winning class was….Ms. Hightower’s 1st grade! They collected 251 markers! Thank you to all the families who sent in used markers. If you still have worn-out markers sitting at home, don’t trash them - you can continue to send them in throughout the year. The challenge may be over, but marker recycling will be ongoing, with collection boxes in each homeroom, and a central collection station organized by Mrs. Carroll outside the art room. Thank you for helping us to be a little more green at Montgomery Elementary!
MORNING BOOSTERTHON GREETERS
A group of the Boosterthon Staff Members stopped by on Thursday morning to greet our students as they were unloading the buses and to spread a little holiday cheer.
As always, inspiring random acts of kindness in students!
