Friday, November 12
There is a lot to celebrate at Mathews. Veterans Day...first and foremost! We hope you enjoy our virtual salute to our Veterans.
Please take a moment to review opportunities to celebrate healthy choices, participate in our food drive, as well as our Spirit Night on Wednesday at Taverna Rossa. You can take out or dine in.
There is also information about our upcoming book fair returning in person the first week in December.
We also hope our students will choose to participate in the upcoming Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration. This will be the 35 year of celebration in Plano ISD. Entries for the Writing and the Art contest are due by November 30. The theme this year is:
"Together we honor the past, inspire the present, and change the future."

Hello Mathews families!
Next week, Mathews Elementary and the Mathews PTA will be celebrating PTA Healthy

school and at home.
The bingo card, (Click the button below.) has 16 ideas for students to try at home
with their family and friends. Participation is completely voluntary.
At the end of November, we will be drawing one student’s name to receive a Healthy Lifestyles
basket from the Mathews PTA.
If your child/ren choose to participate, please have them check off the boxes as the complete the activities, fill in their name, have a parent sign the form where noted and return the bingo card to Mathews no later than November 30, 2021.
Entries are as follows:
- Complete 4 activities - 1 entry
- Complete 8 activities - 2 entries
- Complete all activities - 3 entries
We look forward to celebrating “with” you.

A Letter from Mr. Steele:
Mathews Families,
I wanted to take a moment to share a few reminders as we have had several new positive COVID-19 cases occur within the Mathews community.
While almost all of our new cases are starting at home, we feel it is important to send a quick reminder to make sure your child is feeling well, and is not at all sick, when coming to school.
We have had a few students recently test positive for COVID-19 with symptoms that very much resembled typical seasonal allergies. While we are NOT saying you should keep a student home from school if he/she has allergies, we are just simply reminding our families to make sure your children are healthy when coming to school.
As always we will continue to encourage the use of masks while in school. While they are not required or mandatory, it never hurts to remind our families that they are encouraged to be worn.
We are actively working with the Collin County Health Department to make sure we are following all of the district and local guidelines and are continuing to ensure extra cleaning is taking place where needed.
I want to assure you that we take the health and safety of our students very seriously, and we will continue to do all we can to protect our students while also respecting and following the guidelines as they are written.
You can always learn more about what is taking
place at Mathews, as well as find other tips and safety reminders by reading our weekly eNews each week.
We are looking forward to having a great week and a half before Thanksgiving Break, and we can’t thank you enough for your continued support.
