Duveneck Connections
Home of the Dragons-September 9, 2020
Dear Duveneck Dragon Community,
Library Books and Classroom Material Distribution Information
Friday September 11th will be our next material distribution day. If your child’s teacher has informed you that there will be materials this week to pick up or your child has a library book ready for them, please plan to drive to Duveneck between 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Instructions for picking up items can be found here: Duveneck Material Distirbution instructions.pdf
To learn more about our Duveneck School Library Print Circulation Plan, please review the following document for details: PDF Duveneck Elementary Material Distribution Plan.pdf
As you know, checking out library books will look very different this year! Thank you for your patience this Friday as we begin our first check out process with your children. Next, we want to share with you the procedures we developed to help you and your child learn how to use our new checkout system.
- TK, K, 1st, 2nd grade: Miss Doree will be teaching students how to request books in the coming week. She will be emailing instructions about the process of requesting a book to all parents/guardians. Please review it with your students. The process is relatively simple for adults. Our hope is for you and your child to browse through the catalog together. The books requested will be available on our next distribution day, Friday, September 25.
-3rd, 4th, 5th grades: Your students were taught how to request a book this week. An email (hopefully, it’s new this year) will be sent letting you know that your student has a library book ready for them. These books will be available for pick up this Friday, September 11.
If you’d like to learn more about requesting library books or sign up for an account, please join Miss Doree on Wednesday, September 16 for a Zoom Meeting.

NEW COLOR CODES REPLACE “WATCH LIST” FOR REOPENING OF SCHOOLS
The California Public Health Department guidelines have some new information, including a new color-coding system to replace “watch list” criteria. Currently, 4.8 million California students are prohibited from returning to in-person instruction due to their county status. However, Santa Clara County changed its status from purple to red as of yesterday. To learn more about this new system and what it means moving forward, EdSource produced a good FAQ section that can be found HERE.
