Anasazi (Ancestors of Pueblo)

  1. Made canals and ditches to trap rain from tops of mesa and channel to save the gardens.
  2. Houses were made of stone, had lots of stories. (Apartment like)
  3. They built roads.
  4. Probably left because of all the droughts.

Adena (Eastern Woodlands People)

  1. Lived in the Ohio valley region.
  2. They grew lots of stuff like barley, sunflowers, gourds, and squash.
  3. They made beautiful jewelry and pottery.

Hopewell (Eastern Woodlands People)

  1. Went to the Ohio valley around 300 BC.
  2. Built tall mounds.
  3. A extensive trade network.
  4. Both of the eastern woodlands people (Adena and Hopewell) are referenced to the mound builders.

Mississippians

  1. Arrived in Mississippi in about 800 AD.
  2. Had a lot of food.
  3. More population caused to have more land.
  4. More land means more cites.
