CLAIRES COURT BULLETIN
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO YEAR 11 LINGUISTS - Please make sure you are reviewing your topic vocabulary on a weekly basis now as part of your ongoing revision schedule. Language exams are usually early and take place around mid-May! The following websites are especially helpful: www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize and www.languagesonline.org.uk (this is very useful for help with grammar and tenses). The purchase of a good GCSE revision guide is recommended eg CGP. If you need support with preparing your Controlled Assessment tasks, please come and speak to your language teacher who will be happy to help.
French (Mrs Stratton's groups) - revision/coursework clinic is available to students EACH THURSDAY at the following times: 8.00am -8.30 am, lunchtime and 4.00pm-4.30 pm
Merci / Gracias / Danke, Mrs Stratton
Year 11 Full Reports – Issued today will be coming home with your son.
FROM THE HEAD'S DESK
This week has seen our transport links under extreme pressure from flooding, accidents and breakdowns. All links have always connected, although some have been late, and I hope to see the levels of water go down and normal service resumed next week.
In the news a Telford family have been fined £1000 for taking their holiday in the last week of September. A Department of Education spokesman said "Poor attendance at school can have a hugely damaging effect, regular attenders are four times more likely to achieve". Whilst I may not agree with the fine, I certainly agree that regular attenders will do far better and would remind parents that any holiday absence in term time will be marked as unauthorized.
I look forward to meeting with Year 11 parents on Monday, a very important time in your son's education.
