Horizon Science Academy's Carnival-Themed Open House: A Festive Start to the School Year
Open House was a burst of excitement as students returned and new families joined in. The theme of the event was Carnival, and the event was full of fun and energy.
Parents got a chance to join the Parent Engagement Committee, working together with the school. New schedules, classroom teacher lists, and transportation details were shared, helping everyone get ready for the school year.
Aramark provided tasty snacks and talked with families about our school-wide free lunch program. The importance of attendance was stressed, and we announced we are now a school-wide Class Dojo school. We are excited to bring even easier parent-teacher communication with this new change.
Games, prizes, and face painting stations created a joyful atmosphere. The event was a perfect blend of information, entertainment, and community bonding, setting a positive tone for the coming year.
Skate into School: Parent Committee Hosts Back-to-School Skate Night
Families gathered at Lorain Skate World for a special Back-to-School Skate Night, hosted by the Parent Engagement Committee. It was a first-of-its-kind event, bringing together kids from elementary, middle, and high school.
Laughter and skating sounds filled the rink as parents, kids, and teachers joined in the fun. This event was all about togetherness, as families skated together, building connections and friendships.
The Parent Engagement Committee worked hard to make this event happen, showing their dedication to the school community. Skating symbolized a smooth start to the new school year, and the event reminded everyone that education is a team effort.
A Wonderful Start: First Day of School Brings Smiles and Reunions
The school came alive with happiness as students returned for the first day. Friends reunited with big smiles, and teachers were excited to see their students again.The day was a success because of the teamwork of everyone involved. From administrators to teachers and staff, everyone worked together for a smooth start. A special sign welcomed students back, marking the beginning of a new adventure. This day was full of energy and positivity, setting the stage for a fantastic year of learning and fun ahead. The 23-24 school year is going to be the best one yet!

Horizon's Family Bowling Night at Rebman Recreation: Strengthening School-Family Connections
Horizon Science Academy's Parent Engagement Committee hosted an exciting Family Bowling Night at Rebman Recreation, one of the year's planned family events. The event, held from 4 to 6 PM, brought together families in a sold-out gathering for a fun-filled evening.
The goal of this event was to highlight the value of family participation in school activities, including extracurricular events. Beyond the strikes and spares, the event served as a reminder of the benefits of family involvement:
