Principal's Message
Greetings Elm Families,
We hope everyone had a wonderful week. It was a short one, but a busy one nonetheless. Boy's Soccer is in full swing and is currently undefeated. Go Cougars! Meanwhile, Girl's Volleyball played their first match of the season yesterday. We absolutely love seeing all of our Cougar athletics fans cheering on our teams. Thank you for the support!
Additionally, students have been busy in the classrooms. It was awesome to see Mr. Curtin's class engaged in a lesson about how the state of Hawaii was once ruled by Queen Lili'uokalani who was the first and only Queen and how she was overthrown in 1893.
Monday is Picture Day. We can't wait to see all of our students photo ready. For more information regarding picture day, please take a moment and look at jostenspix.com and our school code is FE110022
Also, we have two field trips approaching. On October 25th and October 27th! A field trip form for the October 27th all school field trip will be coming home this week. All students must have this signed and returned in order to attend. Thank you!
Also a huge big shoutout to our PAT for hosting our first treat sale! Thank you for everything you do for the students, staff and Elm Community!
Please take a few minutes to read through this week’s Cougar Courier. As always, should you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. Have a fabulous long weekend! Enjoy the beautiful weather! #TeamElmStrong
Most Sincerely,
Ms. Ashley Groeneveld
Assistant Principal's Corner - This week in curriculum
I was able to participate in so many great classroom experiences this week. Our teachers created a wide variety of experiential learning to address multiple intelligences . In 6th grade Social Studies this week, the students explored Cuneiform writing ( a logo-syllabic script that was used to write several languages of the Ancient Middle East. The script was in active use from the early Bronze Age until the beginning of the Common Era.)
The learners greatly enjoyed developing authentic artifacts of their learning. Awesome work Ms. Blair and Ms. Demas!

Dean's Den
Hello Elm Families,
I wanted to share some reminders in regards to attendance.
- If your child misses school and we do not receive a call or email, it is considered an unexcused absence.
- If a child misses 5 consecutive days that are excused absences, a Doctor's note is required to keep the absences excused.
- Absence letters are sent out to families once a student reaches 5, 10, and 15 days of absences.
Also- if your child plans to use the bus this year, but has not yet taken the bus, please reach out to me personally through email, or have your child find me at school. Thank you!
Have a great weekend!
Mr. Goodman- Dean of Students
