February Newsletter
Miss Brittney - Room 308
What's Happening?
During February, we will continue practicing the skill of reading for information through working with nonfiction pieces. Our focus will be on a book called, When Elephants Fight. We will also begin writing a research-based argument essay about a global issue!
Don't Forget
As always, students should be reading for at least 40 minutes every night. All of my students have Reading Logs that require a parent or guardian signature each day. Every Friday, students have a Vocabulary Quiz that asks them to use their vocabulary words from each night (on the Reading Log) in a sentence that demonstrates their knowledge of each word's meaning.
Google Classroom
In an effort to go green and utilize the awesome technology that Jepson has to offer, a majority of my assignments will be on Google Classroom. Each student knows how to log onto this site. I encourage you to ask them to pull it up and check out what we're doing.
Last Month
In January, students wrote a research paper on a self-generated question based on a topic from another discipline. They put in a lot of hard work and I'd like to commend their efforts!
